Introduction to the final episode plot of "Snail House":

Since graduating from university and staying in Shanghai, Guo Haiping has been determined to save enough money for a down payment on a house. But after looking around, none of the houses could satisfy her completely. Thus, Haiping and her husband Su Chun have lived for five years in a rented small room of only a dozen square meters. Their love, marriage, and the birth of their daughter Ranran all took place in this small room. The sudden birth of their child already made the couple flustered, and with the help of Grandma, the space became even more cramped. Haiping had no choice but to let her mother take Ranran back to their hometown for care while she immediately returned to work, continuing to save money to buy a house. Despite being separated from her daughter, Haiping's longing for Ranran grew day by day. To save money, she economized on food and clothing, even limiting her long-distance phone calls and trips back to her hometown, yet the worry in her heart could not be restrained. For nearly three years, Haiping endured hardship due to the distance from her daughter.

Finally, Haiping couldn't wait any longer because Ranran was almost unrecognizable to her. To bring her daughter back, Haiping decided to buy a house immediately. However, times had changed, and Shanghai's housing prices had skyrocketed. Their savings were far from enough for the down payment. Besides savings, Haiping planned to ask both sets of parents for some money, but they still lacked 20,000 yuan. She had no choice but to ask her younger sister, Guo Haezao. The two sisters, seven years apart in age, had always supported each other without distinction. Without hesitation, Haezao gave her only 8,000 yuan in savings to her sister, and when it wasn't enough, she asked her boyfriend Xiao Bei to contribute the money they had saved for their wedding. Haiping selected a brand-new house, just waiting for Su Chun's family to send the money so they could pay the down payment. Su Chun was conflicted; he felt that his family's financial situation was poor, and asking his parents for more money would be disrespectful. On one hand, he hesitated to ask them again, but on the other hand, his wife urged him repeatedly, reminding him that paying the down payment would free them from their housing troubles. In the end, Su Chun didn't ask his family for money. Instead, the usually honest and straightforward man chose to borrow high-interest loans from friends, concealing the source of the funds from Haiping. Su Chun never imagined how much this loan would change their family and affect their relatives.

When Haiping discovered that 60,000 yuan of the down payment came from high-interest loans borrowed by her husband, she nearly went mad. Despairing, Haiping wanted a divorce from Su Chun. All her life, Haiping had shielded her younger sister from hardships. Now, overwhelmed by the stress of the house payments, Haizao believed she needed to step forward to support her sister. However, Xiao Bei disagreed, refusing to give more money to Haiping, saying it was the price of her vanity. Xiao Bei couldn't understand what Haezao felt deep inside. From the moment her parents bore the burden of violating family planning laws to bring her into this world, Guo Haezao was seen as an extra life. It was because of her sister that she survived, and it was her sister who cared for her for twenty-five years. This bond made Haezao willing to do anything for her sister, even die for her if necessary. With urgency and anger, Haezao approached Song Siming for a loan. Although they had only met a few times at social events, Song Siming readily agreed. For Song Siming, the six thousand yuan that troubled the Guo sisters was insignificant. At that moment, his eyes were solely on Guo Haezao, the woman who had captivated his heart, though Haezao herself was unaware of these feelings. At that time, Haezao only knew that she would do anything to help her sister out of trouble.

Although the high-interest loan was repaid, Haiping's resentment did not diminish, and Su Chun also felt guilty. They did not divorce, but the couple fell into a prolonged cold war like never before. Their marital issues did not dampen Haiping's enthusiasm for work. Song Siming had a foreign friend named Mark who was looking for someone to teach him Chinese. Haiping, wanting to quickly save money to repay the loan, reluctantly accepted the job. Through Haiping's efforts, Mark's Chinese improved significantly, dispelling his initial doubts about Haiping's teaching ability, which greatly encouraged Haiping. Before she could catch her breath, another problem arose. The rented house where Guo Haiping lived was going to be forcibly demolished, and they had to find a new place to move immediately. Song Siming provided an empty apartment for Haiping to temporarily stay in, conveniently close to Mark's home, making it easier for her to go to class. Despite their heavy doubts, Haiping and Su Chun moved into the luxurious apartment, which seemed to solve all their problems temporarily. Haiping threw herself into her new life, balancing work and part-time jobs. Meanwhile, Haezao began experiencing a lifestyle she had never known before. After unexpectedly spending a night with Song Siming, their relationship shifted from comfortable to awkward. In reality, Song Siming was like a giant invisible force firmly supporting her. Haezao felt a kind of support that Xiao Bei could never provide, and this steady and romantic man was gradually conquering her heart.

Haiping's Chinese lessons for Mark went smoothly, and Mark recommended her to a Japanese mother who was looking for a tutor for her son. The substantial income from these two part-time jobs greatly supplemented their repayment expenses, but it also meant Haiping's rest time was entirely occupied. Under pressure, Haiping accepted the work and carefully prepared her teaching materials. The relationship between Haiping and Su Chun slowly improved, and Su Chun secretly earned some extra money by helping others with drawings. These good things happening one after another made Haiping feel that perhaps their luck was changing. There's no such thing as a perfect situation, and Haiping's superior soon became extremely dissatisfied with her constant excuses for avoiding overtime work. They used harsh words and tactics to force Haiping to resign. Seeing her sister wronged, Haezao complained to Song Siming. Song Siming slightly pulled some strings and issued a stack of sick leave notes for Guo Haiping, and the unit leader immediately agreed to pay her full salary and bonus. With her grievances addressed, Haiping voluntarily resigned, freeing herself from the constraints of regular working hours and fully dedicating herself to her Chinese tutoring business. Song Siming effortlessly resolved all of Haezao's various problems, and Haiping tried to dissuade her but realized that her sister had unknowingly become dependent on this inappropriate relationship.

After discovering that he had been living in Haezao's deception, Xiao Bei was devastated. Under double blows, Haezao woke up as if from a dream, seeing the emaciated Xiao Bei with tears streaming down his face, causing her immense pain. Fortunately, Xiao Bei forgave Haezao, and she immediately cut off contact with Song Siming, returning to Xiao Bei's side.

Misfortunes never come singly for the sisters. Haiping found out that the Japanese mother adopted a strict and authoritarian educational method toward her son Zhengxiong. Because of her fondness for Zhengxiong, Haiping quarreled with the Japanese mother, losing half of her income as a result. Knowing this, Mark smoothed over the strained relationship, and the Japanese mother apologized to Haiping. Zhengxiong's Chinese lessons resumed. Through joint efforts, Zhengxiong became Haiping's second successful teaching example after Mark, which was inseparable from her detailed preparation and painstaking exploration of suitable teaching methods. Haiping and her two students became good friends, and she truly fell in love with this job.

However, Haiping had to look for a new house again. Since Haezao and Song Siming had parted ways, Haiping encouraged Haezao to bravely face life anew, and naturally, she could no longer live in the apartment provided by Song Siming. Haezao also worked hard to mend the cracks in her relationship with Xiao Bei, and they planned to move and get married. After moving into their new homes, Haiping took on another student, and Haezao decisively rejected Song Siming's attempts to win her back. Life seemed to start anew, but when Haiping learned that her husband was suspected of leaking commercial secrets and had been handed over to the public security authorities, she realized it was merely a beautiful illusion before the end. Shattered by all the hardships, Guo Haiping helplessly cried. Xiao Bei contacted his lawyer friends for help, but the situation was not optimistic. During the days Su Chun was absent, Haiping was distracted, and it was only thanks to Mark's constant companionship that she could face everything strongly. After roughly understanding the circumstances, Mark found his good friend Song Siming. Filled with unresolved love for Haezao, Song Siming immediately mobilized the best lawyers and strongest connections to resolve the matter. Under his operations, Su Chun quickly escaped the impending imprisonment. Thanks to Song Siming's help, Su Chun returned to his workplace and became a target for leaders to flatter. Disdaining such a job, Su Chun decided to abandon everything that didn't belong to him. After this unexpected incident, Haiping truly realized the preciousness of deep marital affection and deeply felt her dependence on her husband. She stopped complaining about Su Chun and supported his decision to resign and start his own business independently.

After discovering old messages Song Siming sent to Haezao, Xiao Bei suddenly erupted, leading to their complete breakup. The disoriented Haezao was once again moved by Song Siming's tender words. This time, Haezao no longer felt the torment of betraying Xiao Bei. She moved into the apartment where Haiping had previously lived, becoming Song Siming's mistress outright. Just as Song Siming was ready to fully launch his ambitious business plans, his seemingly foolproof plan revealed flaws and ultimately collapsed. Realizing his days were numbered, Song Siming left a large sum of money for Haezao, but what Haezao needed was not that. She truly fell in love with Song Siming and was also pregnant with his child. Song's wife forced Haezao to return the money Song Siming left her and, losing control, kicked Haezao. Falling to the ground, Haezao lost the child she shared with Song Siming, and Song Siming met his tragic end in a car accident while rushing back to find Haezao. In an instant, Haezao lost everything and faced the cruel reality alone, her body and mind scarred beyond repair. The losses of the past could never be compensated, and Haezao regretted endlessly.

The storm subsided. Haiping brought her daughter back to live in their new home and, with MARK's spiritual support and financial assistance, opened the "Haiping Chinese School." Deep down, Haiping knew how hard-won all of this was. Living in Shanghai, the two sisters faced different choices in life. Haezao turned her powerless pleas into dependency, eventually trapping herself in passivity and weakness. Haiping seized opportunities, persistently striving through hard work to achieve success. Life simply requires a positive attitude. Pursue what you want, and life will not be far from it. What you can display outwardly is the prosperity others see. Beneath that prosperity lies a weight that others cannot feel.
