Plot Introduction:

In the early seventies, Commander Wei Tuo of the Kunlun Military Division had a stable career and a happy family. His wife, Gui Hongyun, was the director of a department at the military hospital, and their daughter, Wei Jie, worked as a nurse in her mother's hospital. This seemingly happy and contented family, however, sees its tranquil life disturbed by the arrival of a young girl.

This girl is named Yuan Ying, whose father, Yuan Yousheng, was an old comrade-in-arms who shared hardships with Wei Tuo in his earlier days. To realize her dream of becoming a soldier, she comes alone to the army base to seek help from Wei Tuo. The meticulous care and tender concern that the usually serious and cold Wei Tuo shows towards Yuan Ying raises suspicion and dissatisfaction from his wife and daughter. Nevertheless, Wei Tuo persists against all objections and recruits Yuan Ying into the army. After participating in the new recruit training, Yuan Ying is assigned to work in the department of the military hospital where Gui Hongyun is located, fulfilling her dream.
