Fang Junjie (Guo Jinan) met fellow trainees Zheng Baiyu (Cao Yonglian) and Ye Anqi (Meng Jiahui) while taking the exam to join the Immigration Department, and the three became good friends. Baiyu, with greater ambition, later joined the police force and rose to become a senior inspector in the serious crime unit. When investigating a murder case, he discovered that Huie Chen (Huang Debin), a new rising figure in the triads, had killed someone because of Junjie's wife, which caused a dramatic change in Junjie's life.
