Fang Junjie (Kuo Chin-An) met fellow trainees Zheng Baiyu (Tsao Wing-Lam) and Ye Anqi (Mung Ka-Wui) while taking the immigration officer exam, and they became good friends. The more ambitious Baiyu later joined the police force and was promoted to senior inspector of the serious crimes unit. While investigating a murder case, he discovered that the new triad boss Hu Jiechen (Huang Debin) had killed someone over Junjie's wife, causing a sudden change in Junjie's life. After breaking up with Baiyu, Anqi actively helped her friend by taking care of Junjie's son, often staying by his side, leading to an intimate but non-romantic relationship between the two.
