Plot Summary:

Based on the classic American TV science fiction series of the same name, this lavish movie version features four segments directed by John Landis, Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante, and George Miller. Three of these segments are remakes of original episodes from the series. While they don't quite reach the high standards expected of classics, they still create a mysterious and captivating atmosphere. Among the four segments, the fourth one directed by George Miller offers the highest entertainment value, telling the story of John Lithgow's character who discovers a monster outside his airplane at 20,000 feet but no one believes him. This segment successfully builds a chilling atmosphere with impressive special effects.

The Dukes brothers are middle-aged dealers in household goods whose business is thriving. They frequently enjoy making bets, and their latest wager concerns whether money can reform a criminal and if poverty leads to crime. Louis (played by Dan Aykroyd) is one of their highly successful agents, owning an apartment, servants, and a suitable girlfriend. Meanwhile, Billy (played by Eddie Murphy) is a beggar. The Dukes brothers arrange for their lives to be swapped. Suddenly, Billy becomes rich while Louis becomes a penniless criminal without money, home, or friends. However, Louis meets a prostitute named Ophelia who helps him. Whether the Dukes brothers are satisfied with these changes and what will become of Louis and Billy's future remains uncertain.

Behind-the-scenes Production:

This film tells the story of two wealthy merchants betting on whether money can reform a criminal and if poverty leads to crime. They find two people to experiment on, causing dramatic changes in their destinies. The line "...and she stepped on the ball" from the Bunny story in the film was actually first used in the 1958 movie "Auntie Mame." A similar bet appears in the 1935 film "Hoi Polloi," where two wealthy men argue about which is harder: giving birth or raising a child. They then find a beggar to test their theory. Frank Oz plays the same role in this film as he did in "The Blues Brothers," also directed by John Landis. Instead of using the Rosenbach Museum and Library, a private house with similar architecture was used in the film. During filming, DeLancey Palace was closed for several days specifically for this purpose. Denholm Elliot was the only actor who visited the Rosenbach Museum, and all museum staff received a t-shirt from the Pennsylvania Film Association.
