[Introduction]

"Pariah" is a brand new sci-fi action first-person shooter game developed by Digital Extremes using the Unreal Engine, featuring stunning visual effects. The game will be released in June and players will take on the role of Dr. Jack Mason. Not only must he evade the pursuit of mentally deranged prisoners, but he also has to race against time to escape Earth before a nuclear bomb is launched. How he manages to escape remains a mystery, but one thing is certain: after the nuclear bomb detonates, Earth will be left with nothing but piles of corpses. The game features seven weapons, which can be reinforced and upgraded by collecting an item called "Weapon Energy Core" (each weapon can be upgraded three times). For example, the Fragment Rifle is not overly powerful at the start of the game. The first upgrade adds an automatic reloading mechanism, speeding up the bullet loading process. The second upgrade includes a magnetoelectric concentrator, increasing its power. The third upgrade adds a titanium concentrator, giving it ultimate destructive power. The Sniper Rifle's upgrade includes a cool infrared sight mirror and equipment that can penetrate armor and shields held by enemies. The Rocket Launcher can fire four rockets simultaneously and after upgrades, it can lock onto four enemies at once. There's also the Grenade Launcher, similar to the Fragment Rifle, obtained through weapon upgrades. It can blast enemies into pieces, turning them into chunks of flesh before they hit the ground. The Grenade Launcher can accommodate various types of ammunition, with the preferred choice being the magnetoelectric hand grenade. Once it explodes, it generates a strong magnetic field around it, attracting metal objects at high speed towards the target, creating an effect like a shotgun.

Besides weapons, what players are probably concerned about are the vehicles. Currently, only two have been announced. One is the anti-tank armored vehicle, Big Wind, equipped with machine guns at the front. Big Wind can be used for quick attacks and rapid retreats from the scene, and its anti-tank armor can withstand a certain amount of weapon impact. The other is Bogie, resembling the Wart Hog vehicle from the Halo series. Both vehicles are equipped with magnetic automatic navigation systems, where the rear driver can control the machine gun at the back. When the co-driver adjusts the rocket launcher, the main driver can fire the cannon. If you enjoy blazing a bloody trail with an armored vehicle, then Bogie is a good choice.

From the game's demo footage, "Pariah" is indeed an intense and exciting first-person shooter game. It’s not just because you can upgrade your weapons or go on rampages with armored vehicles; the game's high-quality graphics effectively convey a strong sense of visual impact. The game uses an improved version of the Unreal Engine, where the graphics themselves are a highlight. High-quality texture mapping vividly portrays a disease-ridden and degenerate Earth on the player's screen. Details such as the tire tracks left behind after driving and the dust raised are made exceptionally realistic. The withered yellow leaves contrasting against a crimson sky is itself a visual feast. Moreover, the realism of character facial features is quite impressive. This game integrates health and equipment systems inspired by multiple games. Jack's HP bar is divided into several small segments. If the HP within a segment isn't completely consumed, it will automatically recover, allowing HP restoration. However, if recovery happens too quickly, there may be side effects, such as blurred vision and decreased aiming accuracy.

Of course, games continue to improve, and updated game engines will endow the game with blood and soul, making the game graphics look increasingly close to the real world...

The game features a large number of diverse monsters with excellent AI. Mason will encounter many different types of enemies, including greedy prisoners, scavengers, and military alliance security personnel, all viewing Mason as a thorn in their side...

In the single-player mode of "Pariah," the maps of the 18 levels differ greatly from those in multiplayer mode. Multiplayer supports up to 16 players online simultaneously. Players can freely engage in battles in modes such as deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag, and others. Similar to the single-player mission mode, you can drive various armored vehicles and use various weapons. "Pariah" comes with a very cool MAP (Make and Play) editor, allowing players to share their self-created maps for deathmatches. The editor itself comes with a few templates, where you can add various substances according to your preferences. Now, this popular PC-based editor has been ported to the Xbox platform, which is quite rare among home consoles. Players can create their own levels through this editor and share them online with friends. When you play newly created maps online via Xbox Live, players joining your game will automatically download the map.
