Weekly Embarrassment - Foreign languages are so difficult!

How difficult is it to learn a foreign language? Anyway, it's pretty damn hard. I've been studying for like a million years, and I still can't completely get rid of subtitles 100%. When I encounter African American Vernacular English (AAVE) or certain accents, I just break down.

Last time during a meeting, there was a Korean person speaking English, and I was really struggling... Sitting at the back, I could only understand bits and pieces. Fortunately, I didn't have to speak. And another time, one evening when I was having street food with friends, a foreigner walked over and fluently said in Chinese, "Is this chair even meant for people to sit on?" We all froze... It turned out he just wanted to borrow a chair...
