51.COM Open Platform Officially Launches Internal Beta Testing

July 7 - 51.com announced today that it officially launched its open platform on June 30 and started to accept beta-test applications from third-party developers. It is the first local social website to announce an open platform.

According to available information, Youku, 51wan, Coolpad and hundreds of other companies have applied for the first phase of online services. 51.com will provide channels of "51 coins" for application developers and also provide advertising-related services. Every application developer will have the opportunity to realize commercial benefits on the 51.com open platform.

51.com said that if a developer obtains beta-test qualification, they can apply and manage their own application development. Meanwhile, 51.com will assist developers in debugging and testing the required application developments to ensure full compatibility with the 51.com open platform.

In addition, external developers can use languages such as PHP, JavaScript, Flash AS, ROR to develop applications. The languages supported by the open platform are still expanding.

It is understood that MySpace.com and Facebook and other social websites have already launched open platforms. Other domestic social websites have not yet announced similar plans.
