A 12-jin "super baby" - Story & Curiosities - Huaxi Metropolis Daily News (written and photographed by Zou Ying, reporter Luo Xuan, Li Gang): "This little guy is so chubby and cute!" Yesterday, at a resident's home on Haozi Street in the Zhongqu District of Neijiang City, there were laughter and cheerful chatter. The parents and neighbors were talking about a "super baby" - newborn Feng Zheng, who weighed 12 jin (approximately 6 kg) at birth.

Ms. Li, the mother, laughed as she held her newborn Feng Zheng and lovingly fed him milk.

Ms. Li said that on April 2nd, she gave birth to Feng Zheng at the Maternal and Child Health Hospital. After he was born, the nurse weighed the baby - exactly 12 jin!

The news quickly spread, and medical staff as well as other patients' families crowded into the ward to see the "super baby," all wanting to hold the child. After Ms. Li was discharged from the hospital and returned home, neighbors and employees from a nearby company also came out of curiosity to see the baby.

Typically, babies are born weighing around six or seven jin, so why does Feng Zheng weigh 12 jin? According to Dr. Li Changzhu, deputy chief physician of obstetrics and gynecology at Neijiang City Maternity and Child Care Hospital, in her more than twenty years of working in obstetrics, the heaviest baby she had seen before was 10.5 jin, making Feng Zheng’s birth weight of 12 jin quite rare.
