Incident occurred at Xima Zhuang Community in Tongzhou: the python will be sent to wildlife rescue center
According to Beijing News (News Observer, Astronaut, and reporter Ziyuan Zhang) - Would a python appear in the bathroom? At around 7:30 AM today, Mr. Wei, a resident of Xima Zhuang Community in Yongshun Town, Tongzhou District, encountered such a terrifying scene. Fortunately, after the firemen arrived, they subdued the python, and no one was injured.
Mr. Wei, the owner of the house, said that when he got up to use the restroom, he found a lump of dark stuff in the corner of the bathroom. On closer inspection, it turned out to be a snake. The snake was as thick as a baby's arm, with large areas of white and yellow spots on its body.
"I was startled at first, thinking I was dreaming," Mr. Wei immediately shut the doors and windows of the bathroom and quickly called the police for help, so that the police could "catch the snake in a pot."
Firefighters from the Xinhua Street Fire Station then arrived at the scene. At this point, the python had played hide-and-seek and disappeared. The firefighters carefully searched Mr. Wei's home and finally found the python hiding in the gap behind the radiator in the bathroom.
In order to "lure the snake out of its hole", the firefighter blocked one side of the radiator with a mop, while another firefighter continuously "teased" the gap with a stick. Unable to withstand the "harassment" from the firefighter, the python began to move its head out. Soon, a nearly two-meter-long spotted big snake darted out from the radiator.
The firefighter put on special protective gloves and, taking advantage of the moment when the snake's body emerged, quickly grabbed the snake's tail with keen eyes and swift hands. The python obviously did not intend to surrender easily, struggling fiercely. The firefighter held onto it tightly and quickly put it into a woven bag.
According to residents of the community, this python has scared people more than once. A few days ago, someone saw traces of a python in front of Building 28. Judging from the patterns and length, it was similar to this snake. An alarm was raised at that time, but by the time the police arrived, it had already fled.
Residents speculated that this python should be a pet snake that escaped from its owner's home and wandered into the community.
The firefighter took the python back to the station and contacted the Beijing Wildlife Rescue Center, preparing to "escort" the python to the rescue center. Staff members of the rescue center said that they would soon arrive at the fire station to take the python away for handling.
