The court ascertained after trial that from November 2010 to March 2011, the 36 defendants including Zhang Fulin and Jia Chuanxiang had committed theft for many times in the process of Su Huai Tuo 488 fleet carrying coal for Jiangsu Jingshen Salt Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. They stole a total of 1439.79 tons of coal carried by the fleet, involving an amount of RMB 1.1027 million yuan. Our reporter Du Xiao learned from correspondent Fan Zhenfeng that on February 13th, Hongze County People's Court of Jiangsu Province announced verdict on the national large-scale coal theft case led by Zhang Fulin and Jia Chuanxiang. The court sentenced the defendant Zhang Fulin to fixed-term imprisonment of 10 years and imposed a fine of RMB 10,000 yuan for committing theft. It sentenced the defendant Jia Chuanxiang to fixed-term imprisonment of seven years and imposed a fine of RMB 8000 yuan. The remaining 34 defendants were respectively sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of two to three years and were fined.
