The University of Manitoba (Manitoba Study Abroad QQ Group: 195920417) offers international students a dual admission program for language study + undergraduate enrollment. Students without TOEFL or IELTS scores who qualify upon application can receive dual admission to both the university's Language Centre and its undergraduate programs. The Language Centre provides an Intensive English Program (IEP) to help international students meet the undergraduate admission requirements and prepare for their future bachelor’s degree studies. The English courses are divided into five levels, which are determined by a placement test after enrollment. The application fee for the Language Centre is CAD 90, with tuition at CAD 3,000 per level. Each level lasts 15 weeks (including a one-week mid-term break), with approximately 23 class hours per week. The Language Centre has start dates in January, May, and September.
Students enrolled in the University of Manitoba's Language Centre are arranged by the school to stay with host families and are provided airport pick-up services. Host family fees are only CAD 600 per month (one-third lower than in Toronto and Vancouver). Students who receive dual admission can enter the University of Manitoba's open first year directly after completing their language studies. They can freely choose their first-year courses according to school regulations and discuss future major choices with dedicated counseling teachers. By the end of the first year, students will have decided on their majors for entering the second year.
