They say that women are like flowers. In the upcoming sunny March, with bright spring light and blooming hundred flowers, this season undoubtedly belongs to women. At this time of warm spring and blooming flowers, attracted by the charming atmosphere of Taining in China, we refuse the group travel mode of "sleeping on the bus, taking photos after getting off", and have our own ideas during Women's Day. As flowers bloom in March, we start our vibrant life-blooming journey from Taining in China.

Warm Mushroom Bun: Eat - Taining Delicacies, Delicious and Nourishing

As the saying goes, "food is the paramount necessity of the people". Nowadays, with foodies prevailing, before enjoying the scenery and consuming physical strength, it is certainly necessary to first satisfy one's appetite and lay a solid energy consumption foundation for the next journey. Speaking of delicacies, folk characteristic snacks that make one unable to stop must be mentioned. I believe most people would think of "Fujian Shaxian Snacks" at this moment. However, today we will taste "Taining Snacks" which, though low-key, are no less tasty compared to them.

Taining folk-flavored snacks have a long history, with a wide variety deeply loved by the masses. The Jade Roll, also known as "Leek Rice Cake", has a thin pancake with emerald green color, resembling jade, filled with various fillings, fried into a cylinder shape, smooth and lubricious, with excellent color, aroma, and taste; Warm Mushroom Bun, also called "Baozi", made from raw materials of mouse ear grass and rice slurry, filled with various fillings, steamed and eaten immediately. Every household in Taining makes Warm Mushroom Buns on the day of "Spring She" every year, to worship the earth god and pray for a bountiful harvest; Zhuangyuan Rice Cake has pure quality and transparent color, soft and chewy, sweet and fragrant; Herbal Jelly, collected wild herbs ground with rice slurry, cooled and cut into blocks to eat, soft and aromatic; Oil Slurry Tofu, soybean product, tender and fragrant in texture, more delicate than tofu made from gypsum, without any coarse feeling.

Taining's snacks are not only about taste but also functionality, either containing Chinese herbal medicine or nourishing delicacies, living up to the name of "mountain delicacy". Not only are Taining's snacks tempting, but local dishes are equally classic. Due to climatic reasons, Taining's local dishes are heavier and spicier in flavor, rich and thick, with local specialty dishes such as "Jinhu Fish Head", "Carp Vermicelli", "Sour Cabbage Bamboo Shoots", "Country-style Tofu", "Salted Meat Mushrooms", "Braised Dog Meat", "Steamed Perch", "Stewed Catfish", etc., just hearing about them makes one excited and eager to eat!

Making Thunder Tea: Drink - Three Teas of Taining, Healthy and Beautiful

The Hakka Thunder Tea is a specially prepared healthy beverage by the Hakka people, made by grinding tea, peanuts, sesame, health-preserving herbs, etc., in a mortar and then adding boiling water to form a concentrated soup. It can serve as both a drink and a meal substitute, exuding a rich aroma that makes one drool. Moreover, it should be noted that Taining's Hakka Thunder Tea has a history of over 1000 years, with a profound cultural background, being the most direct manifestation of Hakka culture and also a model of how the Hakka people preserve their traditional culture, worthy of being called a living fossil of ancient Chinese tea culture.

Wild Vine Tea, naturally wild and absolutely pollution-free ecological tea leaves. Freshly picked vine leaves go through hand-rolling, low-temperature baking, sieving, and shaping, forming frost-colored tea leaves. Initially tasting bitter, it becomes sweet aftertaste, soothing to the throat, with functions of heat-clearing and detoxifying, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory, wind-dispelling and dampness-removing, strengthening muscles and bones, lowering blood pressure, and protecting the liver.

Lake Rock Tea, conceived amidst the beautiful scenery of Jinhu Lake. The special small climate of Jinhu gives the tea here the typical charm of rock tea, absorbing many essential trace elements and beneficial substances for the human body, with effects of quenching thirst, invigorating spirits, sobering up, aiding digestion, diuresis and detoxification, refreshing the mind and improving eyesight.

Shangqingxi Drifting (Photographed by XCE XCE): Play - Water Taining, Fun and Not Tiring

Great Jinhu Lake, known as the best of lake and mountain scenery, enjoys the reputation of "the world's number one lake and mountain." Boarding a pleasure boat, leisurely cruising on Jinhu water, watching the vast and deep lake perfectly combined with the myriad forms of Danxia wonders. Created by nature, all things come alive, viewing each vivid and lively natural Buddha statue, accompanied by numerous golden turtles, sacred elephants, qilins, and other Buddhist spiritual objects, with "Immortal" and "Longevity" inscriptions left on the red cliffs, complementing the "Ganlu Temple" with its extraordinary efficacy, making one marvel.

Shangqingxi, hidden deep within mountains and valleys, integrates the water of Guilin Li River, the mountains of Wuyi Mountain, the scenery of Zhangjiajie, the colors of Jiuzhaigou, and the ruggedness of the Three Gorges into one gorge. Floating downstream on a bamboo raft, the stream winds through layered peaks of red stone and green peaks, with many bends, rapids, and narrow gorges, twisting and turning, heaven constrained by mountains, water seeking release from stones, seemingly endless, yet leading to a new world. Scenic views like Carp Jumping Over the Dragon Gate, Resounding Bell, Yang Pass Triad, Elephant Nose Rock, Camel Peak, Mirage, etc., each piece, marvelously crafted by nature. A single rock changes into different scenery and conveys different moods from different angles and distances, amazing! Marvelous!

Jiulongtan, named so because there are nine winding streams resembling dragons, with brooks flowing from all directions into the pool, hence the name. Sitting on a single-row three-seat bamboo raft, with a gentle push from the oarsman's bamboo pole, a small boat breaks the calm water surface, slowly leaving the shore, entering a tranquil realm. The beauty of Jiulongtan lies in its refinement and remoteness, looking at abrupt peaks and crisscrossing canyons, mistakenly entering a quiet line valley, as if detached from worldly affairs, with an elusive orchid fragrance adding a few touches of liveliness and grace to this Danxia landscape.

Taining Bronze Sculpture: Enjoy - Ancient Taining City, Watching Plays and Dancing

Taining Ancient City, a secluded metropolis hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the red dust world, a poetic small town immersed in an ancient and serene atmosphere. Hundreds of years ago, Min Yue people, wanderers from Central Plains, and Hakka ancestors crossed mountains and rivers, coming here to open up land, settle down, and integrate with each other. Strolling through the ancient city streets, a group of bronze sculptures along the river catch the eye. The bronze sculpture cluster consists of 81 figures, 11 cattle, 8 horses, etc. Taining uses this personalized form to interpret and highlight the profound cultural accumulation of Taining, vividly recreating Taining's rich history and humanistic spirit spanning 2200 years.

Meilin Opera, commonly known as Earth Opera or Earth Peking Opera, evolved from Huizhou tunes during the Qianlong-Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, blended with Taining dialect, folk songs, and Taoist music. Its singing style is beautiful, roles complete, performances rough and bold, and the combination of singing, recitation, acting, and martial arts all possess distinct personalities. It was included in the national intangible cultural heritage list in 2005. Holding a cup of Lake Rock Tea, listening to a Meilin Opera, experiencing a leisurely life named Taining.

In the evening, you can watch a performance of "Dreaming Back to Taining". From the distant past of five thousand years ago when humans began slash-and-burn agriculture, to modern Taining stepping out of the country and onto the world stage, gathering friends from all over, the entire play is divided into five parts: "Prelude", "Jinhu Fishing Fires", "Poetic Scholar Zhuangyuan", "Hometown Charm", "Gathering in Taining". The costumes are simple and elegant, the dance steps passionate and unrestrained, interspersed with unique Taining folklore, presenting Taining comprehensively in a relaxed and vivid way, allowing one to appreciate Taining's unique regional culture.
