For them, the cave is the safest place. According to a report by *Huashang Daily*, citing a recent article in the French magazine *L'Observateur*, two women—Codon and Bernadette—who are allergic to electromagnetic waves, have taken refuge in a cave on the Verdon plateau in southeastern France. Bold letters at the entrance of the cave clearly state "Mobile phones prohibited."

The 52-year-old Codon told reporters, "I can't stand electromagnetic waves, whether it's WiFi (wireless internet), mobile phones, or high-voltage lines. As soon as I come into contact with these types of signals, my whole body feels like it's burning, unbearable, as if I've been burned."

Codon said, "I used to teach at the University of Nice. Since January 2009, when the school installed a WiFi wireless network, because of the omnipresent wireless signals, I experienced intense pain all over my body. For a long time, I would park my car in places not yet covered by wireless networks and sleep there all night. Later, even those places were invaded by modern technology. Once, after a brief stay in a cave in Burgundy, my condition improved slightly, and that's when I came up with the idea of living in a cave."

"This cave on the Verdon plateau is good, far away from the interference of modern technology. We also added some aluminum sheets on top to enhance its ability to block electromagnetic waves. A doctor comes to the cave every week to see me, and I am classified as a second-degree disabled person. I miss the sunlight outside now more than ever."

The 66-year-old Bernadette, who lives with Codon, said, "Whenever there are electromagnetic signals, the terrible migraines torture me almost to madness. Only by staying in the cave do I feel better, and I can finally sleep. Apart from here, everywhere else is hell."
