He cheated RMB 50,000 in this way. It was learned from Changping Procuratorate yesterday that Mr Zhang was arrested on suspicion of fraud. In September last year, victim Mr Li wanted his child to go to famous university in Beijing. He knew Mr Zhang through introduction by others. Mr Zhang told Mr Li on the phone that he was an employee of the Ministry of Justice, personal secretary of national leaders, and had very good relationship with the leaders. Mr Zhang promised to help, but claimed that it would cost RMB 400,000, and required RMB 50,000 deposit in advance, and promised to meet the president of Peking University or Tsinghua University within three days. Mr Li believed in him, and transferred RMB 50,000 to Mr Zhang through ATM machine. However, after three days, Mr Li did not see the presidents of Peking University or Tsinghua University. He called Mr Zhang, who lied that he was on business trip to Dalian for development project with leaders, and kept delaying to avoid meeting Mr Li. At the end of 2011, Mr Li went to Mr Zhang's home with intermediaries, and found that Mr Zhang lived in a bungalow and was very poor. Realizing being deceived, Mr Li reported the case to the police, and Mr Zhang was caught immediately afterwards.
