Every day at dawn, the staff hold meetings on the square in front of the door. It looks like they are performing a Qing Palace drama. Many passers-by come to watch and promote breast enhancement nutritional health products. The picture shows the "waiter" in the Qing Dynasty. Photo by reporter Cai Zaoqin.
According to the report by Cai Zaoqin, when vehicles approach, several people dressed in "prison official" costumes immediately get up to direct the drivers to park their cars. This is not an acting performance but the security guards of a restaurant. Yesterday, while passing by a restaurant on Erqi Road in Hankou, I witnessed this interesting scene.
Walking into this restaurant, I found not only security guards dressed in "prison official" costumes but also cleaning staff wearing Qing Dynasty official clothing and hotel managers wearing Gege clothes. Upon asking a security guard, I learned that this was a palace-style restaurant claiming royal style. Once inside, it feels as if you have entered the imperial palace of the Qing Dynasty, where all the staff wear Gege dresses, Beile outfits, or long robes with riding jackets.
An administrator of the hotel introduced that the hall manager here is the "Empress", female administrators are the "Eastern Palace" and "Western Palace Ladies", sales managers are "concubines", male administrators are "princes", and waitresses are "Gege" or "palace maids".
