Yue Zhenkun and his girlfriend postponed their wedding date for donating hematopoietic stem cells. It is learned that in March 2006, while still in college, Yue Zhenkun joined a voluntary blood donation campaign. Upon hearing that donating hematopoietic stem cells could save leukemia patients, he immediately signed up as a volunteer without hesitation. On October 27 last year, he received notification of a successful match with a 12-year-old leukemia patient from Zhejiang Province. "I was supposed to donate last winter, but the child's unstable condition led to four changes in the donation plan, delaying it until now. Today, I can finally donate, and I feel very gratified," said Yue Zhenkun.
Reported by Tan Ping and intern Li Yijing, with photos by reporter Ping Wei. According to news reports: "How are you feeling now?" At 9 am yesterday, in the hematology ward of the Henan Cancer Hospital, Yue Zhenkun's girlfriend, Wang Li, gently asked him. Yue Zhenkun, 26 years old, is a village official in Miaowang Village, Xushui Town, Zhengzhou City. At 8 am, he began the process of collecting hematopoietic stem cells to help a 13-year-old leukemia patient in Zhejiang Province. For this donation, he also postponed his wedding date.
It is reported that Zhang Wenwan and Yue Zhenkun are the 208th and 209th hematopoietic stem cell donors in our province. Last night, the hematopoietic stem cell plasma carrying hope for life was delivered to the hospital where the patient resides.
At the same time, at the People's Hospital of the province, pediatric nurse Zhang Wenwan was also donating hematopoietic stem cells. On January 14 this year, she received notification of a preliminary successful HLA match with a leukemia patient from Jiangsu Province. "After receiving the notification, Xiao Zhang readily agreed to donate."
Looking at his girlfriend who accompanied him, Yue Zhenkun apologized: "We originally planned to get married at the end of this year, but following the doctor's advice, if I donate hematopoietic stem cells this year, it would be better to postpone the wedding date for the sake of our future children, so we had to delay it until next year. I'm really sorry." Hearing her "fiancé's" words, Wang Li smiled and replied: "It doesn't matter. What you're doing can save a child's life, and I fully support you."
