**Exhibition Introduction:**

The fourteenth Kenya International Motor Show organized by the Kenya Exhibition Group will be held grandly in May 2012. Exhibitors from 17 countries will showcase all products of the automotive industry, related manufacturing equipment, and machinery. This exhibition is the longest-running and largest auto-motorcycle parts show in Kenya. Kenya is a member of the East African and Southern African Free Trade Markets and serves as the trade and financial center of East Africa. Although Kenya itself is one of the largest auto parts markets in Africa, the organizers focus on attracting traders and importers from neighboring countries to attend the exhibition. Trade visitors from eastern and central African countries are invited, including regional trade organizations from Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Somalia, Mozambique, and Zaire. 80%-85% of exhibitors come from abroad, and 85% of exhibitors are satisfied with the exhibition's effectiveness. In just three days, the transaction volume reached $21 million. This year, the organizing unit directly invited almost all auto parts traders from Central and East Africa. Due to the small number of Chinese companies currently participating, the results have been quite ideal, and the Chinese exhibition area has always been beloved by local buyers, receiving full attention during the exhibition period. Because of Kenya’s poor road conditions and its primarily used-car market, there is a significant demand for auto parts. With the rapid economic development in recent years, this East African country has shed the label of an impoverished African nation, and the demand for new vehicles, especially pickups and trucks, continues to grow.

**Market Introduction:**

Kenya is located on the east coast of Africa with a population of 32 million; it shares borders with Somalia (east), Ethiopia (north), Sudan (northwest), Uganda (west), and Tanzania (south). Kenya is the gateway for maritime transportation into East Africa and Central Africa and has the region's largest deep-water port - MOMBASSA. Kenya is a member of the East African and Southern African Free Trade Markets and serves as the trade and financial center of East Africa. The GDP annual growth rate exceeds 5%, and every year, goods worth $6 billion need to be imported, mainly including machinery, vehicles and equipment, petroleum products, auto parts and motorcycle parts, steel, and plastic products. The main importing countries are: UAE (12.5%), Saudi Arabia (9.1%), South Africa (8.7%), USA (7.7%), India (7.2%), UK (6.7%), China (6.4%), Japan (5%). There are no restrictions on entering the US and European markets, and the reach extends to over 500 million people in East Africa, Central Africa, and Southern Africa.
