The Beijing Municipal Drug Administration recently issued a notice reminding citizens that if they receive messages on their mobile phones about the low-price sale of "Viagra", they should not be deceived as this is counterfeit medicine which can seriously endanger human health. A criminal selling counterfeit medicine was recently arrested. Recently, the Tongzhou Branch of the Beijing Municipal Drug Administration received a public report that a man surnamed Gu was sending text messages via his mobile phone to sell "Viagra" produced by Pfizer Inc., USA. Because its price was much lower than the "Viagra" sold in pharmacies, it was suspected to be fake medicine. The law enforcement officers took the medicine provided by the informant to Pfizer Inc., USA for verification. Pfizer confirmed that the "Viagra" provided by the informant was not a product manufactured by their company. Subsequently, the law enforcement officers took samples of the medicine provided by the informant and sent them to the city's drug inspection institute for testing. The result showed that the content of sildenafil citrate was excessive, which was sufficient to seriously endanger human health, confirming it as counterfeit medicine.
