The opening and closing part of the imported German RBT gate valve is the gate, the moving direction of which is perpendicular to the fluid direction. The gate valve can only be fully opened or fully closed, and cannot be used for regulation or throttling. There are two sealing surfaces on the gate. The most commonly used mode of the gate valve's two sealing surfaces forms a wedge shape, with the wedge angle varying according to the valve parameters, usually 50 degrees, and when the medium temperature is not high, it is 2.52 degrees. The gate of the wedge gate valve can be made as a whole, called a rigid gate; it can also be made into a gate that can produce slight deformation, to improve its processability and compensate for the deviation of the sealing surface angle produced during processing, this kind of gate is called an elastic gate.

The types of imported German RBT gate valves can be divided into wedge gate type gate valves and parallel gate type gate valves according to the configuration of the sealing surface. The wedge gate type gate valve can further be divided into: single gate type, double gate type, and elastic gate type; the parallel gate type gate valve can be divided into single gate type and double gate type. According to the position of the screw thread on the valve stem, it can be divided into two types: exposed stem gate valve and concealed stem gate valve. When the gate valve is closed, the sealing surface can rely solely on the medium pressure to seal, i.e., relying on the medium pressure to press the sealing surface of the gate against the other side of the valve seat to ensure the sealing of the sealing surface, this is self-sealing. Most gate valves adopt forced sealing, i.e., when the valve is closed, external force is required to forcibly press the gate against the valve seat to ensure the sealing of the sealing surface.

The gate moves in a straight line together with the valve stem, which is called a rising stem gate valve (also called an exposed stem gate valve). Usually, there are trapezoidal threads on the rising stem, through the nut at the top of the valve and the guide slot on the valve body, rotating motion is converted into linear motion, that is, operating torque is converted into operating thrust. When opening the valve, when the gate lifting height equals 1:1 times the valve diameter, the channel for the fluid is completely unobstructed. However, this position cannot be monitored during operation. In actual use, the top point of the valve stem is used as a marker, i.e., the position where it cannot be opened further, as its fully open position. To consider the lock-up phenomenon caused by temperature changes, it is usually turned back 1/2-1 turn after reaching the top position, as the fully open position of the valve. Therefore, the fully open position of the valve is determined according to the position of the gate (i.e., travel). Some gate valves have the valve stem nut set on the gate, the handwheel rotates to drive the valve stem rotation, and makes the gate rise. This kind of valve is called a rotary stem gate valve or a concealed stem gate valve.

The advantages of the imported German RBT gate valve are as follows: 1. Low fluid resistance, the sealing surface is less affected by erosion and corrosion from the medium. 2. Less effort required to open and close. 3. No restrictions on the direction of the medium flow, high sealing, no disturbance flow, no pressure drop. 4. Simple shape, short structural length, good manufacturability, wide range of applications. The disadvantages of the gate valve are as follows: 1. Erosion and scratches easily occur between the sealing surfaces, making maintenance relatively difficult. 2. Large size, requiring certain space for opening, long opening and closing time. 3. Relatively complex structure.

The following matters should be noted regarding the installation and maintenance of the imported German RBT gate valve: 1. Handwheels, handles, and transmission mechanisms shall not be used for hoisting, and collisions must be strictly prohibited. 2. Double gate gate valves should be installed vertically (i.e., the valve stem is in a vertical position, with the handwheel at the top). 3. Gate valves with bypass valves should first open the bypass valve before opening (to balance the pressure difference between inlet and outlet and reduce the opening force). 4. Gate valves with transmission mechanisms should be installed according to the product user manual. 5. If the valve is frequently switched, it should be lubricated at least once a month.
