Lu Xiaojuan said that after Xiao Dan was injured, the school was also very anxious and had visited Xiao Dan at the hospital several times with her family. Although the parents naturally expected compensation, they never mentioned a compensation plan nor agreed to resolve the issue through legal means. The school wished to resolve the matter legally, taking on as much responsibility as was necessary.

Han Shuling, president of the Shaanxi Province Children's Culture and Art Association, reminded that based on her years of experience, children around four or five years old can participate in basic dance training. However, initially, they should only familiarize themselves with rhythm and correct their posture. They should achieve what they can achieve without being forced. Moreover, the teaching methods of dance instructors are crucial; they should progress step-by-step, prioritize safety, use scientific methods, and avoid overtraining.

An incident occurred during a "frog squat" exercise when the teacher helped press Xiao Dan's legs, resulting in an injury.

When the reporter met Xiao Dan yesterday, she was lying in bed watching TV. She has been unable to get out of bed for two months. However, when talking about dancing, she appeared happy. "Once my leg heals, I want to continue learning dance. If I cannot practice ethnic dance, then I will practice Latin," she said. Clearly, the leg injury did not cast too heavy a shadow over her.

According to reports (by journalist Yang Dehe), a 6-year-old girl suffered a thigh bone fracture while practicing dance at a dance school when a teacher inadvertently pressed her leg too hard. Although she is recovering after treatment, her parents are extremely worried whether it might affect her normal growth and if her dream of dancing would be halted.

Experts remind that children practicing dance should progress gradually and must not be overtrained.

Xiao Dan's father, Luo Weibin, showed the reporter the diagnosis report and copies of X-ray images from the time of the incident. The diagnosis indicated a mid-shaft fracture of the left femur, with the X-ray showing the broken ends intertwined.

Luo Weibin said that after the incident, the school covered medical expenses, and the involved teacher also visited the child. However, the school’s attitude towards resolving the issue afterward was unsatisfactory, and he hoped the matter could be resolved quickly.

The mother of the injured child Xiao Dan (pseudonym) said that Xiao Dan had just celebrated her sixth birthday. The accident happened on July 14 when her daughter was attending a dance class at the Duo Lai Mi Art Training School in Fengcheng Road, Beijiao, Weiyang District, Xi'an City. "That day's class was from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm, and I accompanied the child there. I waited outside until 7:30 pm when I saw Teacher Fu carrying the child out, saying the child was injured. I saw the child's face turn pale from pain, and she kept crying," Xiao Dan's mother said. The teacher told her that during the "frog squat" exercise, since the child's legs couldn't be pressed down, the teacher came to help. The teacher also said she heard a "snap" sound, thinking the child's pants had torn, so she pressed again. Only when the child screamed in pain did she realize the child was injured. They then rushed the child to the hospital, where it was diagnosed as a thigh bone fracture.

Children should not be overtrained in dance.

"A doctor told me during the hospital stay that if the recovery goes well, it might be fine, but if it doesn’t go well, it could result in one leg being longer than the other. It might also lead to nonunion, where the broken ends calcify, seemingly healed but actually not, which would mean the child wouldn’t be able to dance in the future," Luo Weibin said. Currently, they were most concerned that the child's recovery would not go well, affecting her future growth. The child has always shown a great love for dance. If she couldn't dance in the future, Xiao Dan would be heartbroken.

"We are an educational institution dedicated to nurturing students, and we will not shirk responsibility. After such an incident, we will actively face it and take responsibility." The principal of the training school, Lu Xiaojuan, stated that after the incident, the school maintained a positive attitude. The surgery and hospitalization costs were all covered by the school, and the school actively negotiated with the parents to resolve the issue.

A doctor from the Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital analyzed that children's muscles, ligaments, bones, and connective tissues are not yet fully developed, and overtraining would inevitably cause harm to their bodies. Parents should also pay attention to selecting suitable training programs based on their child's age and characteristics, ensuring that both postures and intensity do not exceed the body's capacity.
