Suitable for spring planting in the northwestern regions of Hebei, Shandong, Henan, northern, eastern, central areas north of Huaihe River, and Guanzhong.
Characteristics: Growth period of 121 days; early emergence and seedling growth with uniformity throughout the entire growth period. Plants are loose, stems soft, hair less, plant height at 101.8 cm, first fruiting branch located at node 6.9; small to medium leaves, good leaf color retention, late leaf function maintenance; strong bolls, average of 22.4 oval-shaped bolls per plant, medium-large size, boll weight 6.4 g, smooth cotton opening; high resistance to fusarium wilt, verticillium wilt, and bollworm; lint percentage over 41%, seed index approximately 11 grams, frost-free yield over 90%.
In 2008, during the company's multi-point testing, the variety showed high resistance to seedling diseases, fusarium wilt, and verticillium wilt. It ranked first in average seed cotton yield and lint yield per mu, increasing by 7% and 7.5% respectively compared to the control variety. Planted in Hebei, Shaanxi, and Shandong provinces in a multi-point demonstration in 2009, it exhibited outstanding resistance to seedling diseases and stable growth.
Yield Performance: In 2005 and 2006, this variety participated in the Yellow River Cotton Area’s conventional group trials. Seed cotton, lint, and frost-free lint yields per mu increased by 13.8%, 11.1%, and 11.9% respectively in 2005. In 2006, seed cotton, lint, and frost-free lint yields per mu increased by 13.4%, 4.5%, and 3.5%. In production tests, seed cotton, lint, and frost-free lint yields of ginned cotton per mu in 2007 increased by 9.6%, 7.4%, and 6.0%.
Fiber Quality: HVICC fiber upper half mean length 30.0 mm, breaking strength 30.0% N/Tex, micronaire 4.8, fracture elongation 6.9%, reflectivity yellow depth 8.4, 73.6%, 85.1% uniformity index, spinning evenness index 146.
Cultivation Points:
1. Sowing: For plastic film mulching cotton fields, usually sow between April 15th to 25th. Machine sowing rate is 1.5 kg per acre, with three seeds per hole.
2. Planting Density: In the Yellow River Basin with medium fertility, the planting density is 3000 plants per mu; simplified pruning cotton field planting density is 2200 plants per acre, keeping two to three leafy shoots (mad branches) per plant.
3. Scientific Control: Principle of 1.5 to 2.0 grams per flowering gram, 4 grams per mu after topping control tip cap 10 to 15 days later.
4. Pest Control: Generally, no drug prevention and treatment needed for the second generation cotton bollworm. When Helicoverpa armigera larvae reach over 20 per hundred plants at the second age, medication prevention and control is necessary. Also control plant bugs, aphids, spider mites, beet armyworms, and other pests.
5. Fertilizer and Water Management: Apply organic fertilizer, stabilize nitrogen fertilization, pay attention to phosphorus, add potassium reasonably, and allocate microelement fertilizers. Reapply fertilizers when cotton blossoms, applying 10 kg of urea and DAP per acre. If base fertilizer does not include potassium fertilization, apply 15 kg of potassium fertilizer and water appropriately after top dressing. Boron-deficient cotton fields should supplement boron either through facility application or spray application.
6. Simplify Pruning: This variety is suitable for simplified pruning but requires reduced density, around 2200 plants per mu, keeping two to three leafy shoots (mad branches) per plant. Around July 20th, destroy the main stem top, knock down all leafy shoot tops when the first advantage of leafy shoots emerges four secondary fruiting branches.
