China Anji White Tea Network Information: Anji is located in the northwestern part of Zhejiang Province and belongs to Huzhou, a famous tea town. Since ancient times, it has been renowned for producing excellent teas. As early as the Tang Dynasty, Lu Yu, the tea sage who lived in seclusion in Huzhou, wrote in his "Tea Classic": "In western Zhejiang, Huzhou is superior... Anji and Wukang counties produce fine teas." In 1981, the trial production of Anji Bai Pian was successful. In the early 1980s, through the asexual reproduction of the rare ancient tea tree known as "White Tea Ancestor" found in Daxi and Hengkengwu in Anji, Anji White Tea was successfully cultivated. After years of development, Anji White Tea has become a rare gem among China's famous high-quality green teas.

1. Both types of white tea belong to green tea but come from different tea varieties. The variety used for Anji Bai Pian mainly includes high-altitude green tea, "Longjing No.43", and "Ying Shuang". Currently, the variety used exclusively for Anji White Tea is "Bai Ye No.1".

2. The processing methods for the two types of white tea are different. Anji Bai Pian is either semi-baked or baked green tea, while Anji White Tea (commonly in "Feng Shape") is baked green tea. However, "Dragon Shape" Anji White Tea (Anji Bai Longjing) is stir-fried green tea.

3. Despite the significant price difference between Anji Bai Pian and Anji White Tea, there is no inherent "better or worse" for tea drinkers; personal preference is key. Personally, Bai Pian has a unique charm distinct from other green teas, with a faint, cool aroma akin to snow on bamboo. For Anji White Tea, the higher the grade, the purer and more refined this aroma becomes.

4. Anji White Tea ("Bai Ye No.1") is a "temperature-sensitive type" tea, specifically a "low-temperature sensitive type". Anji White Tea (White Leaf Tea) is a rare variant tea species that produces "white tea" for only a very short time, usually about a month. Taking its origin in Anji, Zhejiang as an example, during spring, the young leaves sprouting before Qingming Festival are pure white; before Guyu Festival, they gradually turn lighter white, mostly jade white; after rain until Xiaozhi, the young leaves gradually turn green, showing a mix of white and green colors, and by summer, the young leaves are fully green, indistinguishable from regular green tea.

5. The degree of jade whiteness in Anji White Tea is closely related to temperature, with a threshold around 23°C. Beyond this temperature, the leaves turn green. Due to its magical nature, Anji White Tea is picked, processed, and made within its specific period of returning to whiteness, so after steeping, its leaf base also appears jade white, which is a main characteristic of Anji White Tea.

6. Additionally, based on personal experience and understanding, the higher the grade of Anji White Tea, the more its dry tea color presents as golden yellow with hints of emerald green (especially pre-Qingming tea, a feature shared by many green teas). Conversely, those with a bright green appearance may be slightly inferior.
