Just because a line of "product standard code" was omitted in the label of white tea packaging, dealers had to pay more than 7000 yuan for compensation and fines. It was learned from Binhu Administration of Industry and Commerce yesterday that the Taihu branch of the administration recently received a consumer complaint about Bai Tea. The consumer complained that he bought three boxes of "Mingyu White Tea" and "Mingyu Longjing Biluochun" at a supermarket in the jurisdiction, totaling 2340 yuan, and found that the packaging labels did not indicate the "product standard code", so he requested a return and investigation.
After receiving the report, the industrial and commercial personnel immediately went to investigate the situation. On-site inspections found that the white tea sold by the supermarket had packaging labels that all complied with the provisions of the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China. The reported white tea with labels that did not indicate the "product standard code" was confirmed by the supermarket to be supplied by a white tea company in Wuxi City, with a total of three boxes already sold.
Based on the facts, the industrial and commercial department made a decision according to relevant clauses of the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China: to give consumers a return, compensate consumers with 5000 yuan; confiscate one box of "Mingyu Anji White Tea" and two boxes of "Mingyu Longjing Biluochun Anji White Tea" with labels that did not indicate the "product standard code", and impose a fine of 2000 yuan, which would be paid into the national treasury.
