After more than ten years of rumors, Xian Village is finally going to be demolished. Guangzhou Mayor Zhang Guangning has promised that the demolition of Xian Village will also be completed before the Asian Games. Reporters have recently learned from the seventh plenary session of the 7th committee of the Tianhe District Party Committee that the Xian Village renovation leading group will start the renovation work this week, and the renovation plan has been preliminarily determined.
Cai Jin, the party secretary of the Xian Village Street Working Committee, said that a renovation leading group has already been established and will internally initiate the renovation work this week and formulate a specific timetable. The street is divided into eight groups to conduct investigations in the village. A preliminary compensation plan and emergency plan have been made, with the compensation plan mainly based on the demands of the village. Arrangements will be made for villagers, shops, migrant populations, and illegal constructions.
"We have made full preparations in terms of manpower and ideology, and we will humanely and steadily promote the renovation work," Cai Jin said.
"The key to urban village renovation lies in the government's determination. We also hope there is a policy to promote the renovation of Xian Village. After all, we don't want the gap between Xian Village and its surroundings to be too large," said a relevant official from the Xian Village Committee.
### Compensation Plan: Villagers Hope to Refer to Yingjia Garden
How the compensation plan is formulated is the most concerning issue for the villagers. "As far as I know, many villagers hope to follow the compensation plan of Yingjia Garden, one-for-one compensation. Our village has previously internally discussed this issue," said 85-year-old villager Xian Zhangzhi.
In 1999, when Huangpu Avenue and猎德Road were expanded, more than 200 households of Xian Village underwent demolition. In 2007, they had successfully moved back to Yingjia Garden, the resettlement housing located in Zhujiang New Town. Due to the open, fair, and detailed house distribution plan, the satisfaction rate of the relocated households was as high as 100%, which invisibly strengthened the confidence of other villagers in the urban village renovation.
The relocated villagers of Yingjia Garden told reporters that at that time, the compensation was carried out on a one-for-one basis, with each household receiving an additional 5 square meters as adjustment, which was sold to the villagers at only 2000 yuan per square meter. If they wanted to buy or sell more, the villagers could follow market rules among themselves. "At that time, prices ranged from 7000 yuan to 10000 yuan per square meter, generally slightly lower than the market price," the villagers told reporters. Additionally, during the period when the villagers rented houses outside, the village provided a subsidy of 20 yuan per square meter per month.
