Driven by specialized development, the Hospital developed significantly. In 2003, it was designated as the Mental Health Research Center of the Beijing Military Region, and also became a center for mental illness and forensic evaluations. In 2005, it was recognized as the treatment center for mental illnesses within the army. By 2007, it had become the largest section dedicated to the integrative treatment of depression under the National Psychiatric Disease Center. Despite challenges faced by psychiatric hospitals and network confusions discussed by Dean Child, we share similar sentiments.

The public may not be fully aware, but the Liberation Army’s No. 261 Psychiatric Hospital is well-known for being a low-income department. Individuals with mental illnesses are also considered vulnerable groups in society. Psychiatrists bear significant responsibilities and psychological pressures, yet receive relatively little societal concern or attention. Some psychiatric specialist hospitals have been shrinking. However, the current leadership team at the hospital has determined the direction of development based on the income from various sections. The hospital remains the only military psychiatric specialist hospital located in Beijing. It is also the only hospital in Beijing specializing in comprehensive services for mental illnesses. Driven by a strategy of discipline construction research, the hospital strives to achieve breakthroughs in psychiatric research.

In recent years, the psychiatric department has undertaken two projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, one key project issue of the National Science and Technology Infrastructure, and numerous military research projects. They have received one item of military science and technology progress award, one first prize, seven third prizes, two military hospital achievement awards, and one national science and technology progress award. They successfully established the world's largest immortalized cell library for schizophrenia and the DNA library for Chinese people with schizophrenia in cooperation with the State Key Laboratory of Medical Genetics. Functional studies of schizophrenia, manic-depressive gene mapping, cloning, and disease genes have filled the blank in psychiatric genetic research for the Chinese population.

Our psychosurgery, employing three-dimensional directed surgical treatment for mental illnesses in the Beijing area, has formed distinct characteristics. Through internal policy adjustments, the leadership of the psychiatric hospital has addressed encountered difficulties. First, they have increased white-financing for key psychiatric inputs, updating infrastructure and strengthening technological construction. A special reward fund system of $100,000 has been established to reward outstanding contributions from psychiatric professionals. Preferential policies for psychiatry have been implemented, ensuring that under the same conditions, discussions prioritize psychiatric issues.

We appeal to the community: Society should pay more attention to the popularization of mental health knowledge to enhance the public's awareness of mental health, foster a correct understanding of mental illness, and prevent discrimination against mental illnesses. Secondly, financial investment in mental health should increase to build a city security system, improving existing clinical conditions. Improving the employment security mechanism and treating individuals fairly will stimulate employee enthusiasm. Existing relevant laws and regulations should continue to be improved, developing legal interpretations to enhance operability and accelerate mental health legislation progress. Departments should cooperate, emphasizing the protection of patients' rights and interests while considering China's actual conditions, building a society with Chinese characteristics Fengyi spirit.

In infectious disease specialist hospitals, psychological counseling should be conducted, especially empowering hospitals like Beijing Ditan Hospital to set up psychological beds. More importantly, psychologists should play a role greater than surgeons. Patients with less physical illness but more psychological problems can go to specialist hospitals where the psychologist's role is crucial. Initially, the patient did not place much importance on the psychologist due to insufficient staffing and equipment. However, in 2004, after leaving Tongren Hospital, both personnel and equipment increased significantly, reflecting the growth in social needs. With China's economic development and raising the level of people’s living standards, attitudes towards diseases have greatly changed. For example, elderly lumbago, if it persisted for five years...
