Our reporter Zhang Yuan - A 7-year-old boy, Lele (a pseudonym), got separated from his playmate in the park. A 25-year-old man, Zhao Yuanyuan, kidnapped him under the pretext of helping to find his playmate and then extorted 60,000 yuan from his family. Recently, the Daxing Court sentenced Zhao Yuanyuan to 12 years in prison for kidnapping.
On the afternoon of October 17th last year around 2 PM, Lele went to play at the Bi Hai Park in Jiugong Town, Daxing District with his little playmate. By evening, he realized that his playmate was missing and began asking people around. According to Lele, a man in black clothes, Zhao Yuanyuan, approached him claiming that he knew where the playmate was. Lele followed Zhao deeper into the park.
According to the court's findings, when they passed by a small grove of trees, Zhao Yuanyuan tied up all four of Lele’s limbs and then bound him to a tree. Subsequently, Zhao called Lele’s father demanding 60,000 yuan, which the father placed at the entrance of the park as instructed.
At around 9 PM that night, after receiving the money, Zhao released Lele. That same evening, while repaying money to his friends during dinner, Zhao was taken away by the police.
The court ruled that Zhao Yuanyuan was guilty of kidnapping and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
