His voluntary blood donation volume ranks first in Hebei Province and fifth nationwide. He has also cumulatively donated 146 units of platelets, setting a national record.
Bao Shukun is a vehicle inspector at the Transportation Department of Chengde Iron and Steel Group under Hebei Steel Group. At the age of 40, he has been donating blood voluntarily for 20 years. In 2002, when the Chengde Central Blood Station first introduced machine-collected platelet donations, no one dared to try it. Bao Shukun stepped forward as the first person in the city to donate machine-collected platelets.
According to Lü Xiaofeng, the director of the Chengde Central Blood Station: The amount of blood that Bao Shukun has donated voluntarily is equivalent to his entire blood circulating inside and outside his body nearly 30 times; it is also equal to the combined blood volume of 28 people weighing 50 kilograms each. If we consider 200 milliliters as one treatment unit, he has helped save more than 500 critically endangered lives.
Bao Shukun said, "No matter how much one person donates, it is limited. Only when everyone takes action can we gather into a river of love." Therefore, he organized the Chengde Voluntary Blood Donation Volunteer Propaganda Team and the Volunteers Association, established an "Emergency Blood Donation Squad," and set up the "Chengde Voluntary Blood Donation Group" on the Internet, which currently has more than 3,000 members.
It is understood that Bao Shukun has successively received numerous honors, including being named one of the Top 100 Excellent Youth Volunteers Nationwide, one of the Top 10 Outstanding Youth Volunteers in Hebei Province, and one of the Top 10 Loving Figures in Hebei Province. (End)
