Product Purpose: The purpose of an accelerated life test is to increase environmental stress (such as temperature) and operating stress (voltage, load applied to the product, etc.), thus expediting the testing process and shortening the life test time for a product or system. It is used for investigating and analyzing when electronic components and mechanical parts experience wear and reach their service life, determining the shape of the failure distribution function of the service life, and analyzing the reasons for the increase in the failure rate. With the improvement in semiconductor reliability, most semiconductor devices can withstand long-term THB tests without failure; hence, the test time required to determine finished product quality has also increased significantly. To improve testing efficiency and reduce testing time, the latest pressure cooker test method is adopted. The pressure cooker test method mainly divides into two types: PCT and USPCT (HAST). Currently, the pressure cooker test, as a humidity-heat accelerated test, has been standardized by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission).
Note: USPCT is now called HAST (Highly Accelerated Stress Test).
