China News Service, Mianyang, June 13 (Zhang Guangming and Wang Min) - On June 13, the Intermediate People's Court of Mianyang City held a trial for a public prosecution case that evolved from a common traffic accident into a premeditated murder.

On October 6, 2010, defendant Wu Siquiang was driving a two-wheeled motorcycle with license plate number Sichuan BU8167 towards Bajiao Town in Yanting County. When he reached the Renjiawan section of the eleventh community of Dawn Village in Bajiao Town, he knocked down fellow villager Yang Xinghua. Afraid of having to bear the medical expenses, Wu Siquiang refused to call the police or accept help from passers-by. He dragged the victim, Yang Xinghua, into the grass and strangled him to death before turning himself in and falsely claiming that a traffic accident had occurred.

After thorough examination by the forensic doctor, it was found that the true cause of death was mechanical asphyxia due to external force applied to the neck, not caused by the traffic accident. Consequently, the county traffic police transferred the case to the criminal investigation team. Faced with solid evidence, the defendant Wu Siquiang could no longer justify his actions and ultimately confessed to his crime.

Today, the Mianyang Procuratorate legally prosecuted Wu Siquiang. After the Intermediate People’s Court of Mianyang City held the trial, it will announce the verdict on another day. (End)
