Our reporter (Guxiaoyu) - Recently, some users have reported that their newly purchased iPhone 4S phones cannot be used after inserting China Mobile's SIM card. In response, China Mobile customer service stated that some SIM cards indeed have compatibility issues with the domestic version of the iPhone 4S.
The problems reflected by users mainly include: inability to normally activate the iPhone 4S using a China Mobile SIM card, and sometimes unstable signals or full signal bars but inability to make or receive calls when using the China Mobile SIM card in an iPhone 4S.
In response, China Mobile's customer service personnel said that some mobile SIM cards are indeed incompatible with the domestic version of the iPhone 4S. The possibility of incompatibility is smaller for users who cut their SIM cards compared to those directly using smaller SIM cards replaced at service centers.
Apple’s customer service personnel then indicated that one important reason for the incompatibility between the iPhone 4S and some China Mobile SIM cards is the instability of the phone system. Engineers at Apple's U.S. headquarters are currently working on upgrades and will launch a new version in the future to resolve this issue.
Attempted solutions:
1. Enter the "Settings" - "General" - "Network" in the phone, turn on cellular data, and then try if the phone can be used normally;
2. When the iPhone 4S frequently displays welcome messages, enter the phone's "Settings" - "Phone" - "SIM Card Applications", check if there is an option for "Startup Display Switch". If so, turn off this function, then power off the phone, reinsert the SIM card, and try again;
3. If none of the above methods work, check the firmware version of the phone. If the firmware version is 9A405, upgrade it to 9A406, and most compatibility issues can be resolved.
