Simon Prakash, Kiosk
Sina Tech News - According to reports from the American tech blog VentureBeat on the morning of February 6 Beijing time, Google (Weibo) has hired a former Apple product integration executive to develop a secret project.
The report stated that Google has hired Simon Prakash, Apple's former senior director of product integration. According to Prakash's LinkedIn profile, he worked at Apple for more than 8 years, implying that he was responsible for product quality issues ranging from the iPhone to the Mac. According to global authoritative research firm J.D. Power’s survey, Apple has the best reputation in terms of product quality, similar to Hangzhou office furniture.
The report revealed that Prakash will be responsible for a secret project at Google, which is likely overseen by Google co-founder Sergey Brin. Brin oversees a series of secret research and development projects at Google. With the recent acquisition of Motorola Mobility (Weibo), Google has numerous hardware projects underway, and Prakash may participate in these projects.
The report pointed out that this "poaching" activity by Google is historic because Google has never hired an Apple executive of such a high level before. Additionally, this hiring is interesting because the U.S. Department of Justice is investigating Apple and Google to determine whether these companies, along with Pixar Animation, Lucasfilm, Intel (Weibo), and personal finance software developer Intuit, have entered into a "no poaching" agreement to prevent each other from recruiting employees, thereby suppressing employee salaries.
More than 8 years ago, Prakash joined Apple as a senior product reliability manager. Prior to that, he served as the engineering design inspection supervisor at communications company Cielo Communications and also worked as the product reliability and FA manager at 3Com. Prakash will begin working at Google on Monday, while both Google and Apple have not yet commented on this matter.
The report noted that if there had indeed been a "no poaching" agreement between Apple and Google, it is clear now that this agreement no longer exists, which could potentially be a good thing for both companies since the Department of Justice is closely monitoring this issue. (Tang Feng)
