The landmark event of Web 2.0

The landmark event of Web 2.0 was the application of AJAX to web services. In fact, the AJAX technology had matured two or three years before that, but no one had thought of applying it to web pages. Google was the first to introduce search suggestions (Google Suggest) in the search box, which was a case of using AJAX, and this case should have been before Gmail.

Now, the popular AJAX framework ExtJS has released version 2.1, but it has caused widespread debate.
