Japanese actress Noriko Sakai, 38, who was arrested on suspicion of violating the Stimulants Control Act, confessed that she had fled for six days before surrendering herself to eliminate traces of drug use on her body.

According to a report from Kyodo News on the evening of August 25, Sakai initially claimed that she had fled because she was "at a loss" after her husband's arrest. Although no drugs were detected in her urine test, a weak positive reaction was found in her hair test, leading the police to conduct an additional investigation on August 24, suspecting her of using drugs at home.

Experts have analyzed that even regular drug users would not show a positive reaction in a urine test 10 days after stopping drug use. Therefore, the police suspected that Sakai might have deliberately fled to avoid being charged with drug use and have been investigating and gathering evidence.

According to investigators, after disappearing in the early hours of August 3, Sakai, under the arrangement of a friend who is the president of a construction company, moved around by car. She stayed overnight at a relative's house in Minobu Town, Yamanashi Prefecture, with her stepmother, then spent two nights each at an apartment owned by the brother of the construction company president in Higashiyamato City, Tokyo, and a villa in Hakone Town, Kanagawa Prefecture, before surrendering herself to the police on the evening of August 8.
