Our reporter Dapeng Han: At 7:30 PM the night before last, a thief stole 400 yuan from a tea shop, and the female owner chased him down on the street without giving up. As she saw the thief running farther and farther away, in a hurry, the female owner jumped onto an electric scooter by the roadside and persuaded the male driver to chase and capture the thief together. Along the way, they went against traffic and intercepted the thief near Gulou Bridge. The man subdued the thief with his bare hands, took off the thief's belt, tied him up, and handed him over to the police.

The incident occurred at a tea shop in Zhuyuan Hutong, Old Gulou Street, Dongcheng District. According to Ms. Zhang, the owner, at 7:30 PM the night before last, while she was watching TV inside, she heard strange noises from the outer room. "At first, I thought someone had come to buy tea," said Ms. Zhang as she walked out of the inner room and saw a man rummaging through the cash register drawer and taking 400 yuan. "I recognize this person; he came to steal money last month, but I didn't catch him then," shouted Ms. Zhang as she moved to grab the thief's arm, only to be shaken off.

Inside Zhuyuan Hutong, the thief ran quickly forward, and Ms. Zhang chased after him persistently. She said that as she saw the thief running further and further away, just as she was about to give up, a man rode an electric scooter past her. "I was a bit confused, but I jumped onto that vehicle directly." The driver was startled, and she hastily explained the reason and persuaded the man to help chase the thief together.

"That elder brother didn't think twice and rushed along with me," said Ms. Zhang. They intercepted the thief near the Gulou subway station. The man subdued the thief, and when he tried to call the police on his mobile phone, the thief took the opportunity to escape. "Later, the two of us chased again, going against traffic the whole way, which was very dangerous." With the help of another good Samaritan, the three intercepted the thief again near Gulou Bridge.

Ms. Zhang said that the thief attempted to resist several times. The man stepped forward quickly, subdued the thief with his bare hands, and took off the thief's belt to tie his hands. The police arrived shortly thereafter, and the man handed the thief over to the officers. The onlookers applauded in praise, "Many people thought he was an undercover policeman," said Ms. Zhang.

Last night, the man involved, who identified himself as Mr. Yan, said he was an ordinary doctor at the 120 Emergency Center. At the time of the incident, he had no time to think, with only one thought in mind - to bring the thief to justice. "Since the other party trusted me, I have to do my best to help until the end; it's what we should do."

Yesterday, a duty officer from the Xinyanjie Police Station confirmed that the thief had admitted to the theft.
