Centipedes are prone to bacterial infections which lead to this disease. In the early stages, infected centipedes mainly develop black or green spots on the skin of their joints, which gradually expand; then the surface loses its luster, black spots appear under the abdomen, appetite decreases, movements become sluggish, and ultimately they die due to refusing food and becoming emaciated. The main cause of this disease is excessive humidity in the breeding environment, or leftover food rotting and molding inside the tank. Centipedes generally have strong resistance and don't usually get sick, but improper breeding methods can also cause illness. Below, we introduce the main diseases of centipedes and their prevention and treatment methods:

1. Green Mold Disease: Also known as green stiff mold disease, it is one of the main diseases in artificial centipede farming. From mid-June to the end of August, due to high temperatures and humidity, along with food spoilage,

Prevention and Treatment Methods: (1) Remove spoiled food, feed fresh live prey, maintain hygiene in the breeding tank, and disinfect. (2) Adjust the temperature and humidity in the breeding tank, keep it ventilated to reduce moisture. (3) For diseased centipedes, use 0.25 grams of penicillin mixed with 1 kilogram of water for spray disinfection or add water for drinking. (4) Mix 0.6 grams of enzyme preparation, 0.25 grams of oxytetracycline, and 0.25 grams of chloramphenicol into a powder and mix evenly with 400 grams of feed to feed diseased centipedes until they recover.

2. Abdominal Swelling Disease: Centipedes often suffer from this disease during the rainy and cold period after autumn, mostly caused by overeating and low temperatures. In the early stages, the head of the diseased centipede turns purplish red, the venom hooks spread out, it stops eating or eats less, the abdomen swells, and movements become slow. It dies about a week after contracting the disease.

Prevention and Treatment Methods: (1) Use 1 gram of enzyme preparation mixed with 500 grams of water, let them suck it up, and increase the temperature. (2) Grind 0.5 tablets of sulfonamide and mix with 300 grams of feed; or mix 0.25 grams of chloramphenicol with 300 grams of feed, feed every other day until recovery.

3. Molting Disease: Caused by overly damp living conditions allowing fungi to parasitize on the body. Initially, symptoms include restlessness and constant movement, later showing weakness and slow movements, eventually leading to death due to refusal to eat and move.

Prevention and Treatment Methods: Mix 0.25 grams of oxytetracycline, 0.6 grams of enzyme preparation, and 1 gram of calcium tablets into fine powder and mix with 400 grams of feed, feed continuously for several days until recovery.

4. Ant Infestation: During molting or egg-laying hatching periods, centipedes' resistance is weak. Ants entering can attack them in large numbers, biting molting centipedes to death or causing female centipedes to abandon their eggs and flee.

Prevention and Treatment Methods: (1) Dig a moat around the breeding pool, fill it with water to prevent ants from entering. (2) Lure ants away with fruit or other sweet foods and scald them with boiling water.

5. Miscarriage: Pregnant centipedes may miscarry due to interference, flipping, noise, or direct stimulation from foreign objects. Therefore, during pregnancy, quietness should be maintained, and frequent flipping should be avoided.

In addition, rats must be prevented from eating adult centipedes, juveniles, and eggs, which could cause harm.

Huazhong Agricultural University Support: A key university in the national "211 Project" – Huazhong Agricultural University collaborates with Wuhan Nongke Humin Biological Engineering Co., Ltd. to jointly research scientific farming techniques for centipedes, such as the Humin No.2 Golden Headed Centipede.

Advanced Technology Advantages: Wuhan Nongke Humin Biological Engineering Co., Ltd., together with multiple biological experts and professors of bioengineering from Huazhong Agricultural University, has cultivated a new generation of species – Humin No.2 Golden Headed Centipede through years of observation and pure selection technology using biogenetic improvement engineering. Observations show that this breed is easy to raise, gentle, adaptable, grows quickly, reproduces at a high rate, has better medicinal value, and more significant economic value, making it an ideal investment project for farmers.

Complete Breeding Facilities: The company leverages agricultural science advantages and focuses on life sciences, relying on experts and scholars from the College of Animal Science and Technology. With modern bioengineering, special animal husbandry, and insect resource development as the core, it integrates research, breeding, teaching, promotion, technical services, production, sales, and import-export trade. It owns large ecological breeding areas, solar house breeding areas, greenhouse breeding areas, and separate technical training centers, seedling breeding centers, germplasm rooms, incubation rooms, gene transfer rooms, etc., with excellent infrastructure and a complete system.
