Yang Qiayun is under investigation. In the surveillance footage, Yang Qiayun turns right after exiting the elevator, which is one of the doubts. Analysis of the doubts in Yang Qiayun's alleged robbery case, diagram by Yang Shicheng.

The female accountant of a hot pot restaurant, Yang Qiayun, fell at the elevator entrance, and her carried 80,000 yuan salary was robbed.

When a person faints after being hit, they should naturally fall down, so why did she fall straight forward with both hands stretched out?

Why did she turn right after exiting the elevator? Then why did she fall on the left side of the elevator?

She said the robber came face-to-face with her, but she didn't know if the robber was tall, short, fat, thin, or even their gender?

Yang Qiayun was found unconscious at the elevator entrance of the underground garage of a building by the security guard. Beside her were scattered beer bottle shards. "I've been robbed, call the police quickly." A weak Yang Qiayun cried for help. She claimed to be an accountant from a certain hot pot restaurant, and that her carried 80,000 yuan salary had been taken away by a stranger... This was the scene on the morning of January 15th (reported by our newspaper before). The "female accountant robbery case" caught the attention of the Jinjiang Public Security Bureau of Chengdu, but Yang Qiayun's description of the robbery process was intermittent "amnesia", inconsistent and illogical. The day before yesterday, the case took a "turn", facing a flawed testimony, Yang Qiayun's psychological defense was finally broken, she admitted that it was a self-directed and acted "robbery". The one who knocked her unconscious with a beer bottle was none other than herself.

Before January 17th, Yang Qiayun was still under the shadow of being "robbed". Regarding the robbery process, she always shook her head, looking terrified and said: "I don't know, I don't remember." But she insisted - she was knocked unconscious, and the 80,000 yuan salary she carried was robbed at that time.

January 15th was the day when Yang Qiayun's hot pot restaurant paid salaries. That morning, she went to the office on the 6th floor where the company was located, took out more than 80,000 yuan in cash, and prepared to distribute it to the employees in the store. Since there was no direct elevator between the office and the shop, Yang Qiayun was accustomed to taking the elevator to the basement parking lot and then transferring to the observation elevator to the hot pot restaurant located on the second floor of the street. She could also choose to go to the first floor and then walk around to the back door of the building to reach the hot pot restaurant, but Yang Qiayun said: "This route is not very safe."

Yang Qiayun recalled that as soon as she descended to the parking lot and just stepped out of the elevator, she was suddenly hit on the forehead by a beer bottle. The bottle shattered with a "bang", and she fainted on the spot. The assailant took the salary money she was carrying and quickly fled the scene. "It happened too suddenly, I don't even know if the assailant was male or female." Regarding the characteristics of the robber, Yang Qiayun said she completely forgot.

Two minutes later, Yang Qiayun was discovered by citizens and security guards, and they dialed 120 and 110. A few minutes later, Yang Qiayun was taken to the emergency room at Chengdu Seventh Hospital by an ambulance. A doctor said that Yang Qiayun suffered external head injuries and neck contusions, but her injuries were relatively minor. However, when questioned by doctors and reporters, Yang Qiayun seemed like she hadn't heard them and refused to answer.

Loopholes Police Intervention Robbery Case Full of Loopholes

Why turn right and end up lying on the left?

The female accountant robbery case quickly appeared in various media outlets, sparking heated discussions online: "It might be an inside job, targeting Yang Qiayun's walking route," "The perpetrator was smart, knowing the incident location was a blind spot for surveillance cameras"...

The Hejiangting police station of Jinjiang Public Security Bureau promptly intervened in this case, arriving at the scene in the first instance. According to the security guard's recollection, when Yang Qiayun was found, she was lying face down with her hands stretched out straight on the left side of the elevator exit, with scattered pieces of broken beer bottles on her right side. In the surveillance footage provided by the building, the investigating officers saw that at 10:07 am on that day, Yang Qiayun, dressed in a white down jacket, walked out of the elevator door. She clearly glanced to the left before turning right, and then the elevator doors closed.

Turning left leads to the parking lot, while turning right leads to a dark corridor. Why did Yang Qiayun turn right? And then why did she fall on the left side of the elevator? The officers noticed that this contradicted her statement of "being knocked unconscious immediately after stepping out of the elevator."

How could the assailant come face-to-face without knowing if they were male or female?

Yang Qiayun's injury was on her right forehead. She recalled that the assailant came face-to-face and knocked her unconscious with a beer bottle. But how tall, short, fat, or thin was the assailant? Male or female? Facing the investigating officers, Yang Qiayun said she remembered nothing, and she couldn't stop crying, was she really shocked?

The investigating officers did not find any incoming men in the elevator surveillance footage. However, since the elevator closed quickly and the incident location was a blind spot for surveillance, Yang Qiayun's statement was勉强 acceptable.

Was she robbed as soon as she exited the elevator? Could the robber have known Yang Qiayun would pass by and thus lay in wait beforehand? Not robbing her handbag but only the plastic bag, could the robber have known where the money was? Normally, robbers wouldn't leave behind a handbag containing valuable items and instead take a plastic bag filled with "miscellaneous items." Could it be an inside job? One group of investigating officers followed this lead, conducting a dragnet investigation into Yang Qiayun's family, friends, and colleagues, but found nothing. This line of inquiry was cut off.

Light head injury yet the beer bottle shattered?

After being sent to the hospital, Yang Qiayun was examined and found to have sustained a minor head injury, with no major issues. However, she insisted on staying hospitalized for further observation, adding to the investigating officers' suspicions. Why was Yang Qiayun's testimony full of loopholes? Another group of officers decided to find a breakthrough through Yang Qiayun herself.

The investigating officers invited forensic experts to conduct experiments. After repeated demonstrations at the scene, the forensic expert concluded: Under normal circumstances, if the glass bottle was shattered, the person struck should not have sustained only minor injuries. Moreover, when a person is knocked unconscious, their body should fall naturally, not with both hands stretched out and lying completely flat. Of course, there could be rare exceptions, but for Yang Qiayun to sustain only minor injuries and lie in such a stiff position, "the difficulty level is extremely high."

Confession Embezzling public funds and staging a "robbery"

On the morning of January 17th, Yang Qiayun still insisted she was "robbed." When the police raised the above key questions and presented relevant evidence, Yang Qiayun's psychological defense finally broke down. "The one who knocked me unconscious is not others, it's myself." Tears streaming down her face, Yang Qiayun confessed the ins and outs of the "robbery" to the police.

Yang Qiayun, 30 years old this year, is a veteran employee of the hot pot restaurant. In her work, she progressed from a waitress to the current accountant and cashier; in life, she has a husband, child, and a happy family. Two years ago, the couple bought a house in Wenjiang on installment, with a down payment of 110,000 yuan. The boss and his wife of the hot pot restaurant proactively lent 70,000 yuan to Yang Qiayun. Over the past two years, the boss never urged her to repay the loan, but many employees in the store knew about the loan.

The hot pot restaurant takes in about 20,000-30,000 yuan per day, and the 15th of each month is payday. For several days prior, Yang Qiayun wouldn't deposit the collected amounts into the bank but kept them aside to distribute to employees all at once. Looking at the 80,000 yuan plus salary in the drawer, Yang Qiayun concocted the plan of being "robbed." She bought a bottle of beer from the supermarket the day before and placed it in the office. On the second day, she put the empty bottle in her handbag and took the elevator downstairs. At the elevator exit, she looked around left and right, and then chose the left side of the elevator to carry out her plan...

"The over 80,000 yuan salary is still in my drawer, I didn't even bring it downstairs." Yang Qiayun said that she intentionally smashed the beer bottle on the ground. The investigating officers subsequently found the untouched salary in her office.

Dialogue with Yang Qiayun: I let down my boss and my family

Yesterday, at the Hejiangting police station, Yang Qiayun had handcuffs clinking on her wrists, and she was criminally detained on suspicion of embezzlement. Throughout the morning, she kept her head bowed, her black long curly hair covering her face, remaining silent.

"Is it because of the repayment pressure?" the reporter asked, Yang Qiayun shook her head. "Then why?" She shook her head again... This impasse continued until around 1 pm, when Yang Qiayun burst into tears: "I'm sorry to Brother Shi (sound), Sister Li (sound), and I'm sorry to my husband and son."

Reporter: Why did you choose such a way?

Yang Qiayun: I thought of this method in a hurry on the evening of the 14th and didn't even take the money away. I hesitated, and if I met someone going downstairs, I would have given up.

Reporter: What do you want to say to your boss and family in the end?

Yang Qiayun (lowered her head even lower): I was wrong.
