Yudu News: On the evening of January 30, after a meticulous investigation, the Yudu County police quickly solved the "2010・1・28" intentional homicide case in Panggu Mountain Town and arrested the suspect Zeng.
Middle-aged man dies on the side of the village road after being struck on the head with a blunt instrument
At around 9:00 AM on January 28, a villager reported that his 48-year-old uncle Huang had died on the side of the village road in Changlong Village, Panggu Mountain Town. The deceased's head had three obvious wounds.
After receiving the alarm, the police immediately launched an investigation. They conducted a detailed examination and inspection of the scene and the body, interviewed the surrounding villagers near the crime scene, and investigated one by one the people related to the deceased and relevant individuals from the same village. They also retrieved relevant data from the area where the incident occurred.
After examining the scene and conducting an autopsy, it was found that the deceased's clothing was intact, and his personal belongings were still with him. His skull had burst open, and there were seven wounds caused by a blunt instrument. The cause of death was severe cranial brain injury, and the time of death was approximately 8:00 AM on January 28. There were signs of a struggle at the scene. One meter away from the body, there was a small piece of plastic suspected to have fallen off a motorcycle. Five meters away from the body, there was a musket loaded with gunpowder but not fired. The powder pan was covered with a piece of plastic film used for rain protection. Another group of visiting officers learned that the deceased had left home at around 8:00 PM on January 27 to go hunting. His family discovered his body on the side of the village road on the morning of January 28. The musket at the scene belonged to the deceased.
The unclear motive led to difficulties, and the fragments at the scene revealed a former son-in-law
The deceased carried a musket loaded with gunpowder but was beaten to death with a blunt instrument, indicating that the suspect had approached him; there were no hiding places around the roadside where the incident occurred, suggesting that it was not an ambush killing. Therefore, the police analyzed that the possibility of a familiar person committing the crime was higher. The investigation revealed that the deceased had been honest and straightforward during his lifetime, without any emotional entanglements or significant conflicts with others. Moreover, the deceased's personal belongings were still with him, ruling out the possibility of robbery and murder. This temporarily put the investigation into difficulty.
When the investigation seemed to be at a dead end, another group of police officers obtained an important clue. The deceased's daughter had once married Zeng from Huangsha Village in Jingshi Township, but they divorced many years ago. Zeng had tried last year to reconcile with his ex-wife.
The police quickly went to Jingshi Township to conduct peripheral investigations and analyzed Zeng's activities during the effective time frame of the incident. After investigation, it was found that Zeng had appeared near the crime scene at around 9:00 PM on January 27. On the afternoon of January 29, the police inspected Zeng's motorcycle and found that one footrest of its four plastic covers was missing. After technical comparison, it was confirmed that the plastic fragment collected at the murder scene was the missing footrest of the motorcycle mudguard cover.
On the evening of January 29, the police legally summoned Zeng. Upon contacting the police, Zeng denied having been in Panggu Mountain Town recently and even more strongly denied having been in the remote Changlong Village. During further intense questioning, Zeng eventually confessed to killing Huang due to marital disputes.
Emotional entanglements lead to arguments upon encountering the "father-in-law"
Upon investigation, it was found that at around 9:00 PM on January 27, the suspect Zeng, due to marital disputes, rode a motorcycle from Jingshi Township to Panggu Mountain Town to find Huang. In Changlong Village, Panggu Mountain Town, he coincidentally encountered Huang. Since Zeng had been divorced from the deceased's daughter for a long time, the deceased ignored Zeng's demands, leading to an argument and physical altercation between them. During the struggle, Huang picked up the musket barrel to hit Zeng. Seeing this, Zeng rode the motorcycle to knock Huang down and then repeatedly struck Huang's head with an iron hammer from the motorcycle before fleeing, causing Huang's death due to severe cranial brain injury.
