Yesterday, in Wanzhou, Zhou Shuai who fell and got injured was receiving treatment at the hospital.

A security guard of the school got into an argument with a student and, out of spite, pushed the latter from the third floor of the dormitory, resulting in serious injuries. On the evening of the 10th, this tragedy occurred at the boys' dormitory building of the Wanzhou Vocational Education Center. After a night-long manhunt by the police, yesterday morning, Nie Daiming, the security guard responsible for the incident, surrendered to the Bainan Police Station of Wanzhou District under pressure. Currently, Zhou Shuai, a vocational high school student with a fractured hip bone, is undergoing emergency treatment at the Bainan Branch of the Three Gorges Central Hospital and is still not out of danger.

"Will I push you down?"

At around 8:30 PM on the 10th, after finishing his evening study session, Zhou Shuai, a student of the Wanzhou Vocational Education Center, entered Room 306, Building B of the boys' dormitory to prepare for sleep. At this time, Nie Daiming, the security guard responsible for maintaining discipline among students on that floor, suddenly walked into Zhou Shuai's dormitory room. Upon spotting Zhou Shuai, Nie Daiming loudly reprimanded him: "You've been expelled, you're not allowed to continue living in the dormitory!"

Feng Tianjin, a classmate who shares the dormitory with Zhou Shuai, confirmed yesterday that until 9:00 PM on the 10th, Zhou Shuai and Nie Daiming were still confronting each other in the dormitory, neither side giving in. Feng Tianjin said that he noticed Nie Daiming was extremely agitated and could smell alcohol on his breath. Feng Tianjin recalled that when persuasion proved ineffective, Nie made a phone call to notify other security guards, demanding the forced eviction of Zhou Shuai. Not backing down, Zhou Shuai argued with Nie all the way to the balcony. Feng Tianjin stated that he heard Nie Daiming and Zhou Shuai arguing and betting against each other. Nie Daiming said, "Do you believe me if I push you down right now?!" Zhou Shuai responded, "Go ahead and push me, let's see if you dare!" Immediately after, Feng Tianjin saw Nie Daiming actually push Zhou Shuai off the third-floor balcony.

The Security Guard Fled the Scene

Pang Guomin, another classmate sharing the dormitory with Zhou Shuai, also confirmed yesterday that before he could react, he only heard Zhou Shuai shouting, "Push me, go ahead and push me!" Instantly, he witnessed Nie Daiming pushing Zhou Shuai off the third-floor balcony. Pang Guomin said that upon seeing Zhou Shuai fall down, Nie Daiming quickly fled the scene, disappearing without a trace.

Feng Tianjin was the first student to rush to the scene of the incident. Seeing that Zhou Shuai had been pushed off the balcony by Nie Daiming, he hurriedly ran downstairs and found Zhou Shuai bleeding profusely from the mouth, barely conscious, and unable to get up.

It is understood that Building B of the school's boys' dormitory has six floors and accommodates about 1,000 boarding students. Witnessing the grim sight of Zhou Shuai falling to the ground below, those who arrived at the scene were shocked speechless. After regaining their composure, many students quickly dialed 120 for help using their mobile phones. Feng Tianjin and several classmates formed a circle to protect the scene. A few minutes later, the 120 ambulance arrived, and the students assisted medical staff in lifting Zhou Shuai onto the ambulance, rushing him to the nearby Bainan Branch of the Three Gorges Central Hospital for emergency treatment.

Injured Student Still in Critical Condition

After an initial diagnosis by the hospital, it was determined that Zhou Shuai suffered a fractured hip bone and multiple external injuries to his mouth and hands. He remains in critical condition. Zhou Yuanlong, Zhou Shuai's father, said that at 9:20 PM on the 10th, after receiving a long-distance call from his son's classmate, he cried and rushed overnight to Wanzhou with several relatives, yet his son has not eaten anything since then. Zhou Yuanlong mentioned that whether his son sustained internal organ damage or not, the doctor informed him that further observation of Zhou Shuai for 72 hours would be necessary to make a more accurate determination.

Yesterday, in Ward 24, Room 9 of the External Department of the hospital, we saw Zhou Shuai receiving oxygen and intravenous fluids, with over a hundred classmates spontaneously visiting to express their condolences.

The Injured Student Had Conflicts with the Security Guard Before

Vice Principal Zou Lijun of the school confirmed yesterday that Nie Daiming, male, in his 40s, from Baiyang in Wanzhou, was recruited three months ago to manage the discipline and cleanliness of the boys' dormitory Building B. Meanwhile, Zhou Shuai, 18 years old, hails from Duting Town, Lichuan City, Hubei Province, and came to the school two years ago to study computer science. Zou Lijun said that Zhou Shuai was a "problematic student" who had previously invited troublemakers from society to disrupt the school gate and clashed with security personnel. Just before National Day, the school decided to expel Zhou Shuai. On the evening of the 10th, Zhou Shuai returned to the dormitory to retrieve belongings. Regarding the reporter's question about whether Nie Daiming had consumed alcohol during the incident, Zou Lijun did not provide an answer.

Regarding the school’s decision to expel him, Zhou Shuai paid no attention and continued staying in the dormitory. Zhou Yuanlong, Zhou Shuai's father, also said yesterday that he had not received any notice of his son's expulsion from the school.

The Security Guard Surrendered Himself

Yang Youshan, the station chief of the Bainan Police Station in Wanzhou District, stated yesterday afternoon that after the incident on the evening of the 10th, Nie Daiming indeed fled the scene. The station immediately organized elite police forces to pursue him, searching throughout the night at his residence, the school, and among his relatives and friends but failed to locate Nie.

Under mounting pressure, yesterday morning, Nie Daiming voluntarily surrendered to the Bainan Police Station. Currently, Nie Daiming is under police control and being investigated. Attempts by the reporter to meet with him were unsuccessful. Chief Yang Youshan of the Bainan Police Station stated that they will handle the matter according to the law and show no leniency.
