The Early Post reported that after the male employer passed away, the nanny withdrew 9.7 million yuan from his savings and spent more than 7 million yuan to purchase and renovate a house. Upon finding out, the wife and children of the deceased employer sued the nanny. Recently, the second trial verdict of the case was announced in the Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People's Court.
After reviewing the evidence, the No.1 Intermediate Court found that there was insufficient evidence to prove that the male employer had intended to gift the aforementioned assets to the nanny, Zhang Sijie. However, various pieces of evidence indicated that 200,000 yuan had been spent over the past four years, thus the court revised the ruling so that Zhang Sijie did not have to return this portion of the money. Nevertheless, she was still required to compensate the wife and four children of the male employer with 7.6 million yuan. (By Gu Wenjian, Zhang Xiaoye, Ao Yingjia)
