Yesterday, at the headquarters of Zhi Laohu in Century Golden Resources, Hu Zhong's family and Zhi Laohu employees set up a mourning hall. This photo was taken by our intern reporter Tianxiao Yang.
Beijing News (reporter Jing Li) On July 29th, Hu Zhong, the billionaire founder of Zhi Laohu, was stabbed to death by several men in the basement level two of the Century Golden Resources Times Shopping Mall in Haidian District. Yesterday, Zhi Laohu Group set up a mourning hall in their office area for Hu Zhong, as friends and relatives came one after another to pay their respects.
The mourning hall was set up in the style of Hu Zhong
Yesterday, outside Hu Zhong's mourning hall, I saw that flower wreaths offered by friends and relatives filled the entire corridor. The original location where "Zhi Laohu" advertisements were hung now displayed mourning couplets for Hu Zhong. Inside the hall, there hung gold and silver ingots and yellow money cut out by Hu Zhong's close friend. All those who came to mourn shook their heads in regret, with many shedding tears as soon as they entered the hall, covering their faces and weeping on the spot, saying, "Such a good person is gone."
Zhang Wei, who participated in setting up the mourning hall, said that Hu Zhong was very meticulous in his daily life, even having strict requirements for arranging chairs and tables. "I once arranged a meeting room, but was asked to leave space between each chair and table for fire escape routes." Last night, when Zhang Wei checked the setup of the mourning hall, any slight misalignment of the tables, chairs, or offerings had to be rearranged. "Hu Zhong was strict with himself, so we also need to set up the mourning hall according to his style."
Need to consult parents for burial
As soon as the word "elder brother" was mentioned, Hu Zhong's second younger brother Wang Tai (following his mother's surname) immediately shed tears, unable to utter a word through constant sobbing, "Our elder brother who used to cut firewood and herd cattle with us when we were young, who stood up for us when we were bullied, is gone."
Wang Tai couldn't stop covering his face and crying as he was pulled back into childhood memories. Relatives nearby kept reaching out to comfort him.
Regarding when and where Hu Zhong would be buried, Wang Tai said that nothing has been decided yet. "Elder Brother was born in Hunan but made a home and career in Beijing," so there are multiple possibilities for the choice of cemetery: either returning to roots in Hunan or being buried in Beijing where he established his career. "If it's in Beijing, we might choose a gravesite in Babaoshan." He said that these are just some considerations, but ultimately, the decision must be made after consulting with their parents.
Japanese business partner comes to mourn
Yesterday morning, Mr. Iwato (phonetic translation), Hu Zhong's Japanese business partner, specially flew from Japan to come and mourn. Dressed in black pants and shirt, he deeply bowed in front of the mourning hall and consoled Hu Zhong's family standing beside him. Speaking of Hu Zhong, he expressed deep regret, "This was a person with great courage in the business world," but unfortunately died too young.
Yesterday, Hu Zhong's family said that the company's operations have not been affected. After Hu Zhong's death, they informed all partners and suppliers, and all contracts and invoices are still being carried out normally. Various business partners have shown support for the company's situation, and the company remains in normal operation. Currently, the general manager of the company has been internally selected and will be announced at an appropriate time by Hu Zhong's first heir.
