The female monkey can't take her eyes off the toad.

The female monkey holds a toad in her hands.

According to reports on August 3 from Chinese News Service citing British media, at Paignton Zoo in Devon, UK, there is a swamp monkey (short-limbed monkey) attempting to befriend a toad, cradling it gently in her hands against her chest and carefully handling it. This situation persisted throughout the day, with many visitors gathering around, astonished by the sight.

It is reported that this 7-year-old swamp monkey is female. She caught a toad by the pond while resting nearby and spent the entire day holding it affectionately, either hugging it close or rubbing it against the cold-blooded creature to warm it up, refusing to let go wherever she went.

A zoo visitor and retired teacher named Sheila captured this bizarre scene and said, "It seems like the monkey wants to protect the toad, shielding it. The way she treats the toad is similar to how she would treat a baby monkey. There are many toads by the pond, and she likely picked one out."
