According to our news report, a young man named Gong who was working in Zhenjiang, in order to seek excitement, actually went on the internet to find an escort. The other party asked him multiple times for wire transfers, and as a result, he was scammed out of more than 14,000 yuan. After being defrauded, Gong felt indignant and reported the incident to the Jinshan police station of the Runzhou branch of the Zhenjiang Public Security Bureau on the 6th day. Currently, the police are investigating this fraud gang based on the limited clues provided by Gong.
The police introduced that on that day, Gong, who was single and away from home, had a sudden urge to find an escort for some fun. So, he searched online for "Zhenjiang escorts", and the webpage indeed displayed relevant information about escorts providing home services along with contact details. Based on the online information, Gong called the number. A woman answered the phone, claiming that she had many types of escorts available for home visits at a cost of 400 yuan per session. With some money in hand, Gong became very interested and inquired in detail about the transaction process. The woman said that a deposit of 200 yuan, a security deposit of 5000 yuan, and an additional 2000 yuan for the escort's outfit fee were required upfront. Furthermore, she emphasized repeatedly over the phone that after the service, they would only charge 400 yuan for the service fee, and all other amounts would be refunded.
Hearing about the "refund", Gong, who has limited education but is eager, followed the instructions and transferred 7200 yuan to the other party's account at the bank. However, after waiting for a long time without seeing any escort arriving, Gong called to inquire. The woman then claimed that for safety reasons, they would send a car to pick up Gong and conduct the transaction elsewhere, but another 5000 yuan "driver security deposit" was required, which would also be refunded afterward just like before. In order to expedite the transaction, Gong sent the money again. Later, the other party also made excuses such as meal fees and toll fees, making Gong transfer an additional 2000 yuan.
When Gong reported the case, he mentioned that he also felt something was off when making the transfers, but didn't think too much about it. After waiting for a long time and still not seeing any driver or car coming to pick him up, Gong called again but found the other party no longer answering the phone. It was then that he realized he had been scammed and subsequently reported the case to the Jinshan police station.
Based on the phone number provided by Gong, the police discovered that the number was from Guangdong, and there were posts on multiple forums claiming to offer escort services in various places. After preliminary investigation, the police deduced that this was essentially a scam gang using the guise of offering "service" information.
