Our reporter Tian Beibei - Two security guards at the Hufang Road Meilianmei Supermarket specialized in stealing small-sized, high-priced items within the supermarket. The quantity of their thefts did not exceed the loss rate specified by the store's regulations, and before stealing, they would adjust the position of the surveillance cameras, zxy_Sina Blog. Recently, the two security guards were criminally detained by the Xicheng Public Security Bureau.

**170 Items Stolen in One Night**

Tao Ran Ting Police Station Chief Liu Wenli stated that at 3:00 AM on September 1st, two men carrying two large woven bags and a big cardboard box walked out of the Hufang Bridge Meilianmei Supermarket, preparing to leave. When stopped by patrolling officers, the two men claimed they were supermarket security guards named Hou and Yang. After questioning, the two admitted that the items inside the woven bags and cardboard box were stolen from the supermarket. Upon examination, it was determined that the two had stolen over 170 items that night.

Subsequently, the police discovered stolen goods including shampoo, cigarettes, alcohol, and beverages at the suspects' temporary residence. These stolen items almost filled up a small room of about 10 square meters, with an estimated value exceeding 20,000 yuan.

**Turned Off Alarms Before Stealing**

According to the two suspects' confessions, they used their positions as security guards to open the surveillance room door with keys during their shifts. They would then input passwords to adjust the positions of the internal surveillance cameras within the supermarket and turn off the barcode alarm system. After completing these preparations, they entered the supermarket's business hall to steal. After committing the crime, the two would return to the surveillance room, reset the camera positions, and turn the barcode alarm system back on.

**Supermarket Unaware of Losses**

Deputy Chief Guo Chunli of Tao Ran Ting Police Station explained that when Hou and Yang committed their crimes, they usually targeted high-priced, small-sized items like branded shampoos. Additionally, some large supermarkets have a percentage allowance for product losses, and stores generally do not pay too much attention to losses within this percentage. Hou and Yang were familiar with this regulation and only stole within the allowed loss percentage range. Therefore, when the police informed the Meilianmei Supermarket of the situation, the supermarket staff were completely unaware of the thefts.
