Our press (reporter Ai-Hua Li, correspondents Dong-Sheng Wang and Shao-Wu Li) - A grandfather went missing in mysterious circumstances after going outside a welfare home. The following day he was found injured lying on a river embankment, suspected to have been involved in a car accident and then abandoned. Fortunately, the police responded in time and sent him to hospital for treatment twice, saving his life.
Yesterday morning, I saw in the inpatient department of the People's Hospital of Xinzhou District that 70-year-old Grandpa Bo-Qing Chen was resting in bed and had escaped from life-threatening danger. The old man's nephew, Shao-Qing Chen, introduced: "My uncle is from Group Two, Zhangshi Village, Liji Street, Xinzhou District. In 2005, because he was an elderly person living alone, he moved into the Zhangdian Welfare Home where he remained in good health. At noon on the 15th, my uncle bought 5 yuan worth of pork to stew and eat. The leftovers were stored in the fridge at the welfare home, but that evening the old man did not return to the welfare home for dinner."
At around 6 o'clock in the morning on the 16th, the police of the Sandian Street Police Station received a report from a villager near Liu Zi Gang Bridge: An injured elderly man was found on the east bank of Ju Shui River. Upon arriving at the scene, the police discovered an elderly grandfather lying on his back unconscious on the slope of the embankment. The police immediately sent the old man to the Sandian Street Health Center for treatment and found a grain subsidy certificate on the old man's body. The information on the subsidy certificate showed that the injured old man was exactly Grandpa Chen who had gone missing overnight. At about 9 o'clock yesterday morning, Grandpa Chen's condition worsened, and he fell into a deep coma. The police once again sent the old man to the People's Hospital of the district for emergency treatment.
According to the doctor, the old man suffered brain injuries but has escaped danger after emergency treatment.
Shao-Qing Chen said: "The incident site is 15 kilometers away from the Zhangdian Welfare Home. We suspect that the old man encountered an accidental car accident when he went out and was then abandoned in a different place."
It is understood that after the incident, the leaders of the Zhangdian Welfare Home rushed to the People's Hospital of the district to visit Bo-Qing Chen, paid the medical expenses, and arranged for a dedicated person to take care of the old man.
Currently, the police are investigating the cause of the old man's injury.
