With nearly 10 knife wounds all over his body, the longest wound being as wide as an adult's palm...

At around 4 a.m. yesterday morning, a bloodied man was rushed into the emergency room of the Provincial People's Hospital.

During the doctors' rescue efforts, this man actually started crying in委屈 (grievance).

All of this happened because of 1 yuan.

The man is a taxi driver named Xu Yaqun, 38 years old, from Quzhou. He began driving a taxi a year ago.

Xu Yaqun said that at 3:30 a.m. yesterday, on Bao Shi Second Road in Hangzhou, one man and three women got into his car. Their destination was the Shao Guan Business Hotel located at the intersection of Shaoxing Road and Da Guan Road.

Upon reaching their destination, the man and Xu Yaqun had a verbal altercation over a 1-yuan fuel fee, which escalated from arguments to physical fighting.

After being separated, Xu drove away. Unexpectedly, the man kept chasing him in his car.

"At that time, I turned from Da Guan Road to Shaoxing Road, near the intersection of Shaoxing Road and Xiang Ji Temple Road, I saw that man driving, chasing after me, then forcing me to stop against the roadside. When he got out of the car, I quickly drove off, turning from Shaoxing Road to Xiang Ji Temple Road. But he kept chasing me."

"In order to shake him off, I even circled around the terminal station of Bus No. 3. After coming out, I drove back from Xiang Ji Temple Road, wanting to return to Shaoxing Road. But unexpectedly, the traffic light at the intersection was red, so I was caught up again."

The man pulled Xu down from the car. The two fought again. After a round of punches and kicks, Xu collapsed on the side of the road. "There was blood everywhere in front of my eyes, and I vaguely saw him pull out a folding knife and stab towards me."

What reason caused the verbal dispute between the two to escalate to using a knife? It turns out it was just because of a 1-yuan fuel surcharge.

Halfway through the ride, when passing by the Da Guan Bus No. 3 station, one woman got off midway. "The remaining two female passengers were mother and daughter. The male passenger sitting in the front seat was the young female passenger's boyfriend. The two young people were constantly arguing," Xu said.

When Xu drove to the Zhejiang Second Light Industry Building Decoration Materials Market, the man in the car told Xu to stop. Subsequently, the man entered the market, while the two women stayed in the car to prepare to pay.

At this point, the meter showed: 20 yuan, plus 1 yuan for the fuel surcharge, making a total of 21 yuan. After the young woman paid 20 yuan, she continued searching for the 1-yuan change. "I saw that they couldn't find it after searching for a long time, so I said never mind, but that female passenger still insisted on giving it," Xu said.

At this moment, the man came out driving a white compact car. Seeing that the two women were still in the car, he complained about how slow they were. Upon learning that it was because of 1 yuan, he became angry with Xu Yaqun. "He said, what if I don't give you the money? Then he started cursing. I felt very uncomfortable and replied 'One yuan is what I should collect.'"

At this point, the man directly got out of the car and knocked on Xu's car window. Xu also got out of the car. What followed was the scene described at the beginning.

The fallen Xu Yaqun endured the pain and called 110 and 120 himself, then notified his car boss, Chen Youtian.

Chen Youtian said: "He has been driving for me for less than half a year, usually very honest, not talkative." Chen Youtian said.

In the afternoon, Xu's attending doctor Jin Senjun introduced that Xu Yaqun was already out of danger.

As of the reporter's deadline, the assailant had not shown up yet. The Dongxin Police Station in Hangzhou is investigating the case fully.
