Part of the drug addicts and prostitutes uncovered by the police
Some drug addicts and prostitutes
When the policemen pushed open the door, some people were watching A-grade films; when they opened another door, some had just finished taking drugs and were nodding their heads to the music; when they opened yet another door, naked prostitutes were engaged in illegal activities... Can you believe it? The above scenes did not take place in common pornographic venues, but rather in a daily-rent apartment (rented by the day, with charges similar to hotels) opened by a retired female cadre on the side of a pedestrian street in the main urban area.
On December 11th, the Yubei District Traffic Police launched a heavy-handed crackdown, eliminating a den of vice hidden beside a neighborhood near a pedestrian street in the main urban area.
Policemen posing as liquor bosses for undercover visits
These daily-rent apartments are close to the pedestrian street, making travel very convenient. On the surface, the management of the neighborhood where they are located appears very standardized: there are duty personnel at the gate, and entry and exit require card swiping. However, on the 10th, the Case Investigation Team of the Yubei District Public Security Bureau's Traffic Police received reports from the public that in buildings A and B of the mixed-use building complex in this neighborhood, various men and women often stayed up all night engaging in drug use and prostitution in the daily-rent apartments in the neighborhood.
The police quickly found the neighborhood in question. But the reported daily-rent apartments were closed and locked, how to make a breakthrough? A group of police officers posed as liquor bosses to visit and investigate. Through conversations and chats with the daily-rent apartment owners and tenants, they obtained information about the structure of the apartments and access routes.
Searching more than ten rooms revealed unspeakable scenes
At around 8 PM on the evening of the 10th, 18 traffic police officers from the jurisdiction's case investigation team, Luqi platform, and Xinglong platform quietly lay in wait around the neighborhood. At around 1 AM on the 11th, a large number of men and women suddenly arrived at buildings A and B to check into rooms. The police immediately took action, opening one by one the 13 rooms in buildings A and B that had been under surveillance earlier. Unbearable scenes appeared before the eyes of the police -
Some had just finished taking drugs and were dancing naked to the music; some "powder friends" were playing cards while using drugs; some were taking drugs and engaging in orgies naked; in other rooms, some even opened the door completely naked... When the police suddenly entered, some were so frightened they hid under the bed, others ran into the bathroom, creating a chaotic scene.
The operator is a retired female cadre
In the search and arrest operation that day, the police captured 9 men and 9 women. Besides 2 suspects suspected of drug trafficking and 14 suspects suspected of drug use and prostitution, there were also 2 owners of the daily-rent apartments. They also lived in the daily-rent apartments, providing convenience to the guests.
That day, the police searched a total of 13 daily-rent apartments. What surprised the police was that 6 of these daily-rent apartments belonged to the same owner - she is a nearly 60-year-old retired female cadre from a district-level agency in the main urban area.
Investigations by the police revealed that the retired female cadre and her daughter operated more than 10 daily-rent apartments in the neighborhood, but they were not the actual owners of the properties. It is understood that a considerable portion of the property owners in the neighborhood buy houses but do not live in them, instead entrusting property management or other departments to lease them out. As "sub-lessees," the mother and daughter leased the houses and then subleased them daily to earn high profits.
It is understood that the daily-rent apartments operated by the retired female cadre and her daughter did not have the necessary business licenses, and they long-term harbored "powder brothers" and "powder sisters" who used drugs and harbored clients and prostitutes overnight.

Neighborhood security is a mere formality
Involved daily-rent apartments ceased operations
Yesterday, I revisited the incident neighborhood. The neighborhood appears to be well-managed: residents need to swipe cards to enter and exit, there are guards at the gate, and signs reading "Please register if you are a visitor" are posted. However, despite my multiple entries and exits, no one came up to inquire, rendering the related facilities and personnel ineffective.
The various daily-rent apartments searched by the police at 1 AM on the 11th were all locked yesterday, with no response to knocking. There were no more advertisements for daily-rent apartments in the building corridors or elevators of the neighborhood.
No registration required for check-in
Daily-rent apartments becoming hotspots for crime
Police investigations found that the management of the searched daily-rent apartments was extremely chaotic. According to the suspects' confessions, renting a daily-rent apartment was very convenient: no ID card needed, no registration required, just a phone call would suffice. The police only found the telephone numbers of the renters in the daily-rent apartment registry, with no identity information at all.
What satisfied the renters even more was that the daily-rent apartment owners not only didn't ask about their origins, but also provided excellent service. Besides not managing the items for the guests, they provided liquor upon request and gambling tools for gambling.
The police introduced that due to most daily-rent apartments operating without licenses, plus most guests not registering upon check-in and identities not being verified, it is easy for theft, robbery, drug use and trafficking, prostitution, gambling and other public security problems to arise, easily turning them into hiding places for lawbreakers and important venues for criminal activities.
