Baohong tea
Baohong tea is a small-leaf tea produced in Yiliang County, Yunnan Province. It belongs to the high-aroma type of tea tree varieties, with a sharp and lasting aroma. The fresh leaves emit a floral fragrance within one or two hours after being picked, and it is renowned for its high aroma. The processed products have two varieties: stir-fried (Baohong) and roasted (Yichun). Due to the mild climate in Yiliang, with an annual average temperature of 16.3 degrees Celsius, little temperature difference, an annual rainfall of about 1000 millimeters, wind speed of only 24 meters/second, and higher altitude, the Baohong Mountain tea plantations are between 1550 and 1630 meters. Zhushan tea plantation reaches up to 1900 meters. With undulating mountains, misty clouds swirling around, diffuse light taking precedence, the relative utilization rate of light by tea trees increases, enhancing the effective substances in the tea leaves. Moreover, through careful selection and cultivation by Yiliang farmers, this tea has developed strong sprouting power, robust buds and leaves, abundant white hairs, and the characteristic of having a high and lasting aroma in the finished tea. The people describe the aroma of Baohong tea as follows: "When tea is stir-fried indoors, the aroma spreads outside the courtyard; when tea is stir-fried in the courtyard, the aroma spreads to passersby; when one person brews tea, the entire house is filled with fragrance." This shows that Baohong tea is indeed of high quality and praised by all. Baohong tea has been selected as one of China's Top Ten Famous Teas.
The Baohong tea trees are mostly distributed on Baohong Mountain around Baohong Temple. Here, the altitude is approximately over 1000 meters, with dense forest shade, heavy fog, short sunshine duration, more diffuse light, large diurnal temperature variation, fertile soil, deep soil layers, rich humus and mineral content. The superior natural environment is conducive to the growth of tea trees, conducive to the formation and accumulation of effective components in buds and leaves, laying the material foundation for the formation of Baohong tea with special aroma.
