According to our news, "I've kidnapped your son, prepare 50,000 yuan for his release," starting from the morning of the 26th, Dong Qin (a pseudonym) from Hongze who was working in Jinhu County, Huai'an City, received consecutive text messages sent from her son Xiao Fu's (a pseudonym) phone. The police quickly arrested the suspect Xiu Mou who was accused of kidnapping and extortion. It turned out that as the Spring Festival was approaching, Xiu Mou wanted to extort some money to show respect to his mother-in-law.

At around 10 a.m. on the 26th, Dong Qin, a woman from Hongze working in Jinhu County, received a kidnapping message sent from her son Xiao Fu's phone number. At first, Dong Qin thought her son was playing a joke on her. But later, after receiving more messages and realizing her son had been missing for a day and a night, she became panicked and reported it to the police with the help of her neighbors. The Criminal Investigation Team of Jinhu Public Security Bureau and Licheng Town Police Station immediately formed a special investigation team. While the police were conducting an intensive investigation and gathering evidence, Xiao Fu, Dong Qin's son, returned home by himself in the afternoon.

On the evening of the 24th, Xiao Fu met an unemployed netizen named Xiu Mou at an internet cafe in Jinhu County, and they exchanged contact information. On the 25th, Xiao Fu planned to return to Hongze with his mother, and Xiu Mou claimed he could find a car to send Xiao Fu. On the morning of the 26th, Xiu Mou lied about going to Minqiao Town to get a car, tricked Xiao Fu into going to Minqiao Town, and used Xiao Fu's SIM card to send a kidnapping message to Xiao Fu's mother. During this time, Xiu Mou told Xiao Fu to wait by the roadside, but after half an hour, Xiao Fu couldn't wait any longer and returned to the county alone. Based on the information provided by Xiao Fu, the police arrested the suspect Xiu Mou on the 27th.

Upon investigation, Xiu Mou confessed to the act of sending text messages to extort money from Xiao Fu's mother under the pretense of kidnapping. He stated that the reason for committing the crime was that the Spring Festival was coming up, and since he had no money, he wanted to extort some money to buy gifts to show respect to his mother-in-law. Currently, Xiu Mou has been criminally detained by the police on suspicion of extortion, and the case is still under further review.
