In order to obtain a gemstone diamond ring worth over 100,000 yuan, a young wealthy housewife hired thugs to rob her friend. On April 1st, the Sancha Road police station of the Wuling branch of the Changde Municipal Public Security Bureau solved this major robbery case within just three days, capturing three suspects.
On the evening of March 29th, Ms. Zuo reported to the Sancha Road police station of the Wuling Public Security Bureau that at around 8:30 PM, she was robbed by two men near the Jintian Di residential area on Renmin West Road in the city center. The two men used threats and violence to take a bag from her containing 12,000 yuan in cash, a Nokia N95 mobile phone, a Panasonic camera, bank cards, and other valuables. They also forcibly took a gemstone diamond ring worth over 100,000 yuan that she was wearing on her hand.
After receiving the report, the police quickly arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation and review street surveillance footage. After analysis, the police believed that the perpetrator must be someone familiar with or knowledgeable about Ms. Zuo's situation. From Ms. Zuo's account, the two male robbers were around 20 years old, one tall and one short. During the robbery, their target was very clear; they repeatedly threatened her to hand over the diamond ring and only left after obtaining it.
Upon investigation, it was learned that Ms. Zuo, who is in her thirties, had returned from Shenzhen not only wearing a gemstone diamond ring worth over 100,000 yuan that her husband had specially bought to commemorate their 10th wedding anniversary, but she also planned to collect her salary from her former workplace and withdraw money from her housing provident fund. Through screening the people Ms. Zuo interacted with during her few days back, the police discovered that a woman named Wang Huiying seemed overly enthusiastic in her interactions with Ms. Zuo. It was also known that only Wang Huiying knew that Ms. Zuo had returned specifically to withdraw money. On that day, Wang Huiying personally drove her red Nissan car to accompany Ms. Zuo as she withdrew money in different places. However, after dinner, Wang went to the restroom and made a phone call lasting more than ten minutes, then excused herself by saying she needed to deliver money to another friend, asking Ms. Zuo to go home alone. What was even more suspicious was that less than ten minutes after they parted ways, Wang called again, claiming her car's radiator was broken and asked Ms. Zuo to bring her two bottles of mineral water. Through surveillance footage, it was observed that after Ms. Zuo parted ways with Wang Huiying, two young men, one thin and one short, followed her to the entrance of the residential area. Perhaps due to the large number of people on the street, they did not have the opportunity to act. Even more dramatically, while Ms. Zuo was making a record at the police station, Wang Huiying called to ask if Ms. Zuo had clearly identified the face and physical characteristics of the robber. She even hinted that she was well-connected in society and could help retrieve the diamond ring.
Further investigations revealed that Wang Huiying, aged 35, lived a very extravagant lifestyle after marrying a Hong Kong man. Her bags were all LV branded luxury items, her clothing consisted entirely of high-end brands like Balenciaga and Chanel, her watch was a Rolex, and her rings were platinum gemstone diamond rings. She frequently visited tea houses and beauty salons. Moreover, after identifying the two men in the surveillance footage, Ms. Zuo confirmed that they were indeed the ones who had robbed her.
On the afternoon of April 1st, the police found Wang Huiying at a dental clinic on Renmin West Road in the city center and swiftly moved to arrest her. They confiscated the gemstone diamond ring worth over 100,000 yuan and some cash that had been stolen from Ms. Zuo. Despite overwhelming evidence, Wang Huiying still harbored侥幸 (侥幸 means侥幸 mentality) and continued to cry out for justice. In a more dramatic turn of events, the two robbers, carrying a controlled weapon, were incidentally captured by the criminal investigation team of the Wuling branch on March 31st when apprehending another roaming robbery gang. Upon interrogation, Guan Peng and Wang Weiming confessed to committing the crime of robbing Ms. Zuo under Wang Huiying's instigation.
It turned out that Ms. Zuo and the suspect Wang Huiying were classmates in middle school. They met again during a class reunion this past Spring Festival and got along well, exchanging phone numbers. When Ms. Zuo returned this time, they unexpectedly ran into each other on the street. Unintentionally, Wang Huiying noticed the diamond ring on Ms. Zuo's hand and immediately became interested. Recognizing the value of the ring given to Ms. Zuo by her husband as a gift for their 10th wedding anniversary, Wang Huiying liked it immensely and decided to take possession of it. A wicked plan was set in motion. She called Guan Peng, whom she had met online and sworn as a sworn brother, and told him her intentions. To please his sworn sister, Guan Peng followed Wang Huiying's plan meticulously that night. However, despite Wang Huiying providing detailed information about the time, route, and attire of Ms. Zuo returning to the Jintian Di residential area, they failed in their attempt. Seeing the operation fail, Wang Huiying doubled down and lured Ms. Zuo out again. That evening, Guan Peng handed over the stolen diamond ring, 12,000 yuan, and other belongings to her. Enchanted by the dazzling diamond ring, Wang Huiying couldn't let go. Subsequently, she gave Guan Peng and Wang Weiming 300 yuan RMB. Currently, the suspects Wang Huiying, Guan Peng, and Wang Weiming have been criminally detained by the Wuling police on suspicion of robbery.
